devner spoke
singletrack factory

and in boulder

the fix

Westside Cyclery is a few blocks from Wheatridge, might as well check them out too. I think Turin Bikes is close to the Denver Spoke. There's also a little shop right inside of Morrison by the bank, can't remember the name. Hey, what the hell, visit Yeti in Golden.

Sounds like you're staying on the west side. On the east side there's a bunch of Performance shops, the big Bicycle Village, Treads, Alpha Bikes and a bunch of other little shops. If you're willing to get up to Loveland, check out Mtn High Cyclery and on the way you can check out Redstone Cyclery(?) in Lyons.

I think that's all the shops I know of.

sounds like you got it covered

I can't think of any other good shops. Oh, wait, there's one in Lowry (the redeveloped air force base), and the Bike Werx on Leetsdale/ Quebec.
That's a long day of bike shopping. Good luck!

That's Red Rocks Cyclery

Well there is also a Performance on the west side at Kipling & Jewell. Good set of employees there, in my experience.

If you are looking for quality and boutique dealers on the west side, you've got it pretty much covered already: Schwab Cycles, Green Mountain Sports, Red Rocks Cyclery, Wheat Ridge Cyclery, West Side Cycles. Also maybe Big Ring Cycles in Golden --- I've heard good things, though I have personally never been in it.

The guys at the Fix and Sports Garage are super nice but the shops are SMALL without much inventory. I'd suggest you call ahead and make sure they've got something for you to see before you make the trip...

The Bike Werx place looks like its out o business now... Drove by there last week, and it was pretty much boarded up.

Forget the colo. Supergo, they suck...

Don't waste time goin all the way up there. I am not giving them any more business. I love my weyless xp but since they no longer offer them they are useless to me. their customer service sucks.

Turin is a nice shop, mostly road, but sell specialized and trek mtb's.

so, why?

So you're saying they discontinued the XP and that's a mark against them? Don't expect to get a lot of sympathy on that one.
I can understand bad CS turning you off, but I've given in to the fact that every bike shop in town (heck, every retail store everywhere) has at a minimum, 1 idiot working there. The bigger shops will have more, but if you boycott everywhere you've had a bad experience, there's gonna be nowhere else to go. And yes, I've gotten bad service at one point or another from pretty much every shop in the Denver area...

I don't agree with every bike shop having at least 1 idiot working there. Those who live in the Springs, or who have been there, know that ProCycling has no idiots working there.:D

The fix

If you do head up to the fix... take a dj bike. The jumps there are pretty amazing if you have someone to follow and learn the lines from. Very difficult if you are alone. They have a small amount of stuff in the shop... but what they do have is pretty sweet.

thanks guys....

i appreciate the input...

im not planning on hitting every one, but just a go around, see what all everyone carries, etc, adn make a list. then go back and hit the key ones with my shorts and shoes!

theres a performance, and bicycle village down here, guessing their the same. i was looking more for the specialty shops, titus, mtn cycle, foes, etc.

it will be easter weekend, do you think they'll all be open? i plan on making calls and such the next few days, to see hours, and such.

COmtbiker, the nitrous ive been testing is at procycling, and so far i havnt met any idiots there! i do want one more ride on the nitrous wit a longer stem, its tops on my list at the moment, but just hafta be sure.

btw, any of you all do the church thing on easter? just wondering

Well, maybe I've just caught some guys having a bad day. But anyone who tries explaining things like they're talking to an 8 year old, well, there's no excuse for them. But so far (and I've been there a lot lately) no bad experiences at S'go.
And yeah, we'll be heading to Easter mass on Sunday, and then the eating begins... I think Easter brunch is right up there w/ Thanksgiving for food consumption in our house.
Have fun shopping!

Lol, food consumption is usually that much in quantity for me as well. This is actually the first time I'll be skiing on Easter and not at the grandparent's house getting full of food.

You misunderstand me

Uninformed and careless employees who are not passionate about bikes is what turns me off, I have had better customer service thru their mail order than I have had in person. I live in golden and driving all the way to the Supergo store for a good deal no longer is appealing when i can get just as good prices from MTN high, mojo or other online retailers. DC ing the XP is not the point But now that they have I have no reason to go there, for service or otherwise.

my experience is that ALL the idiots work at Supergo, not just a random 1.

There are many good shops, and I have learned that you do get what you pay for in the cycling business when it comes to customer service. The small shops, with passionate owners and passionate employees will always go the distance to make their customer happy. You pay more for that. you have to decide if it is worth it. I like Turin, they know I bought my weyless at Supergo but they don't care, I buy small parts form them, they give me discounts and free service, every once in awhile. We chat bikes and politics and we know that we share a common passion, riding.

whatever. enough rambling. I will boycott Supergo, no one else has to. ride on.

wildman, good luck...
