ridden at Conway Robinson

Bright and Early after some snow.....two different color grips as one of them was shredded by a friend of mine who I "dumbly" decided to let ride my bike. OTB and dropped bar onto a rock and sliced the other black grip.

P.S. There is black electrical tape covering those turqouise dashes on the top and down tube....which why you wont see them on this frame!

Mojo SL-R is in da house...

Well apart from a trim to the rear brake line, a tweak to the steer tube length and fitting a mini (mud) skirt, my South Beach White SL-R is ready to roll around some trails. The kit is done too. I'll put together a more detailed build list at some point... but essentially XO Silver 2x10, Hope Pro3 SP-XC6 hoops (No Tubes Crest rims), Fox Fork and truvativ bar and stem. I've got a reverb on the desk for a little later too... but now it's time to ride.

I've had my XL silver on order since August. Just got word from my LBS (who was paraphrasing an email from Ibis)....

LBS: "Customer wants to know when the XL Silver will be in stock."
Ibis: "We have a black XL if you want it."
LBS: "Maybe, customer wants to know what the wait will be for an XL Silver."
Ibis: "We can send you the black XL tomorrow."
LBS: "Is there an estimated timeframe for an XL in silver?"
Ibis: "It's black, with blue striping."
LBS: "Black, you say?"
Ibis: "You can have the black in a couple days, we're shipping it out now."
LBS: "I guess we'll have him take a look, but in the meantime, do you have an ETA on the silver line of SL-Rs?"
Ibis: "Don't hold your breath."

New Build - Comments, Advise...Pls

Hi all,

I have just moved to Boston, USA from the UK and im going to treat myself to a new bike/Build...My Orange Five Pro is better suited to the UK ( this is what i have told the wife!

I would welcome comments/recommendations on the build below as im going to place the order next week...If you see something and you think i would change that or its not worth the money on that part...please advise also.
Im looking at Easton Carbon Wheels but dont think the price for 200g is worth it...can you convince me?

Im booked onto this later this year and want to use the bike for this type of riding also.

Been a while since I took the bike out....had a blast. I played around with the propedal on the rp23 and I could really feel the difference compared to the Triad2 that was on my old Stumpy.

Noticed a little bit of gimble knock from the Angleset, but I think I fixed it by tightening the topcap.

The bike is basically all done, but I'm thinking about building up a new wheelset...carbon rims from light-bicycle, cx-rays, and CK hubs.

that would make it an unique bike
You guys are hard to please-I thought just possessing an SL-R was unique enough!

If I hadn't been following this thread for so long I'd almost believe you guys didn't know the blue was going to be on the black frames. All black is pretty sweet, though. Since I already have an all black bike (my commuter bike, where perhaps visibility should have been more important? :eek:ut: A good excuse for nice lights, anyway) I'm not interested in another all black bike. I picked up my forks from the painter on Tuesday and the shop is reassembling them. Getting the black and matte level matched was a little challenge for the painter (he paints motorcycles for a living), but he pulled it off on the second try with a different matting agent. He matched the blue nicely, too. I'll have pics in a couple weeks once the bike is all together and fit is finalized.

Painting over the frameskin is an interesting idea. I'd worry about the adhesive of frameskin and the flat paint peeling off, but maybe fishboy2807 could address his thoughts on that. I had an old beater commuter bike that I sprayed flat black using aerosol and, although the flat black did not have long lasting wear properties, it was super easy to touch up. You could just spray over everything and not have to worry about matching at all that way. Resale time, just touch it up and it will look like new.
