That would be very welcome news if the RPL became available with the Kashima coat, but Fox tends to treat that one like the red-headed stepchild of the family.
The RPL won't come with the Kashima, since it part of their Performance family. The Factory RP23 w/ Adaptive Logic, RP2 Remote, DHX Air 5.0 and DHX RC4 gets the coating.

Have ordered my large orange and will get the Cane Creek Angleset to go with it, but that's the total planned build. It's going to sit on the wall of the garage till my Mojo Carbon dies. It is 3 1/2 years into it's happy life, about 11000km on the clock and is loving life.

So why order something you don't need or want to sell-on? Aussie dollar is strong and US is weak; simple economics. It may seem very odd when the SL-R is the 4th 140mm Ibis in 5 years, but I think this is going to be a keeper frame. No matter what happens to components in the next 2-3 years, the SL-R will remain perfect for where I live, for what I ride now and will want to ride in the future.

$1.20 by June - please please polease.....

so pissed....just after aganizing over the choice between the SL and the HD140 I wish I had known the SL-R was on the way. I went with the SL but was wanting the taperred headset, rear through axle, and adjustable seat post cable routing of the HD. :(

Poo poo on Ibis for not giving the heads up sooner.

Dipper when did you start getting in the habit of making stupid comments? hey we need our OR mapbook

It's a shame that you bought a fantastic bike, and it wasn't perfect.

How soon do you expect a company to announce a product before it's ready for sale? The day the decide to begin R&D? The day they start riding a prototype? There really isn't a win win for a company in this position.

You got yourself an awesome bike, and it will have resale value. If you really want the sl-r, flip your sl before the sl-r's hit the market.

If not, rock the sl and have a blast.

Are you sh*tting me?! Excuse me while I go get my violin.

What company in the world gives customers warning that they're about to rev their product line?! Does Apple tell people the month before the iPad2 comes out that they should hold off on getting the original? No, they don't.

Want an SL-R and just got an SL? Flip your almost brand new SL and suck up the difference.

Sucks, but nobody said the fancy mountain bike life was fair.

setting my sites on a SL-R build....

I'm still on my trusty Mojo from the first year they were selling but am strongly considering parting it out and upgrading to an SL-R. Here's what I'm thinking:
  • FRAME: Ibis Mojo SL-R with selected components from XX package Silver
  • Fork: RockShox Revelation RLT Ti Dual Position Air 150mm Fork White 1.5 Taper
  • Brake: ((Use current Magura Marta SL))
  • Cassette: SRAM XG-1099 XX Cassette- 11/36
  • Chain Guide: None
  • Chain: SRAM PC-1091 Chain
  • Crank: ((Use current Race Face Next SL))
  • Bottom Bracket: 2011 SRAM GXP PressFit MTB Bottom Bracket
  • Front Derailleur: SRAM X0 2x10 High Direct Mount Front Derailleur Traditional/Dual-Pull
  • Grips: (Use current ESI))
  • Handlebars: ((Use current Syntace Vector Carbon Riser)
  • Headset: Cane Creek 110-Series Mixed Tapered Headset Red
  • Pedals: ((Use current XTR))
  • Rear Derailleurs: SRAM XX Rear Derailleur Medium
  • Rear Shock: Fox RP23 Air Rear Shock
  • Saddles: ((Use current))
  • Seatpost: ((Use current Joplin))
  • Shifter: SRAM XX Trigger Shifter Set
  • Cables: Jagwire Ripcord DIY Derailleur Kit Carbon
  • Stems: ((Use current Syntace Superforce))
  • Wheels: ((Use current ChrisKing/Stans rear wheel with 12mm adapter and Hope/Stans front)).
  • Tubes: None
  • Tires - Front / Rear: ((Use current))
This build uses some of the expensive parts from my Mojo while changing to 2x10 and a tapered fork. Still, the financial output will be oodles. I figure the build will be good for 5 years or better and I'll sell my Mojo frame/headset/fork... The original build was oodles too, but I got over it (as fast as I was riding).
