Yes, and then you add to that the width of the tire, 2" back when MTB got popular and 2.25" when 650b was relaunched. 22+2+2=26" ; 23+2.25+2.25=27.5". So if you change your wheels from standard 26" to 650b, but use the same tire width you will get a 0.5" higher BB (assuming unchanged AC-length on the fork). Naming wheelsizes with reference to the outside diameter of the tires is a good way to create confusion :)

Is anyone running their hdr 650 with wide (30mm+ interior) rims?
I'm thinking about a pair of the LB wide hookless rims but i've heard differing views on whether the wider rims result in a wider tire, or just more volume. Right now i'm only running the neo motos on the back (on flows), so there's plenty of room, but i'd like to still have the option of going with a beefier tire in the future.

yep, we have another 650b HDR with 2.25 Ardents. They are slightly roomier but not much. the 2.35 NN fits great.

I think all the hubbub was started by someone trying the 2.35 Hans Damph. I'm running that up front, and it's really a 2.5+. It's tight inside my Pike even.

Yeah I mounted my WTB Vigilante on the rear just to see if it would fit (which it did). I didn't try bottoming the fork through so i'm not sure if it would buzz the seat tube or not. The Vigilante is a very tall tire--mine measured 28.1".
That said, i like it a lot on the front, but it's just too slow on the rear.

@Covy--are your LB's the 35mm wide hookless ones or the regular 30mm version?

Just got done with 4.5 amazing days of riding in Sedona. This place lives up to the hype. Hit all the biggies, Hiline, Hangover, Hogs, Mescal etc. These trails are fantastic, so damn fun. So much great technical riding. My favorite stuff! :D

No driving, just doing big loops from town. Shortest day was ~22miles or so. Sedona miles are not regular miles!

Was on the HDR650b every day, all day. I love this bike so much. It takes every last bit of the ChunderTech and laps it up. Pulling some of the moves on Hiline and Hangover most definitely require total comfort and confidence in your whip. Happy to say that both rider and bike were on. Didn't have the nutzak to try the White Line, sometimes being a parent has to take precedent! :p

Here's a shot on our way back to Teacup trail by the big sinkhole...

My Build:

HDR650b - stock XX1 Group
30 front ring
XTR Trail brakes
Pushed Elite Kit Float 34 - 150 (Love this fork, no Pike necessary!)
Pushed Float shock - Amazed at what they can do with this shock.
KS Lev
Ibis stock wheels (waiting on LB/King wheels)
Nobby Nic 2.35 front
Ardent 2.25 rear

~27.75lbs

Nice! I'm finally taking a trip home after a year and a half living on this island.... Any who I'm really wanting to take a trip up to Sedona and using the time share. Did you do any guided rides? Was it pretty easy to navigate around?

Thanks Kaj! I was considering the Pike, but the stock 34 and Float CTD were not too bad (2014 kit) out of the box, so rather then blowing a lot of $$$ to go Pike I sent the stuff to PUSH and got both 110% dialed for me at around half the Pike retail. I've had PUSH do enough work on Fox stuff that I know what I'm getting will be just right.

Not dissing the Pike, but these are dialed.

You're talking about mine? Good question, never checked! It's likely not too far from stock, but with the 150 fork and NN 2.35 ft tire, it'll be a bit higher then stock.

...and FWIW, Sedona is definitely a place where having a slightly higher BB will serve you well! Plenty of opportunity to tag your pedals, even with careful timing.
