Mine, developed the issue within the first month. I think it must have been an assembly issue. After getting it back I was then notified about the recall, and had to send it back for that again! It was a real pain in the butt, because the recall had them back logged.

Ive filled out the return authorization form and awaiting instructions. From describing my problem with the person on the phone seems like they knew exactly what the issue was and said it requires a complete rebuild.

Anyone know if nitrogen is really required? From their online instructions it looks like theyve just used a shock pump.

What settings is everyone using for their X2 shock? I started at the recommended settings per Fox's manual. I used my Shockwiz to tune my shock and best I could do was get 93% so far. I weigh around 185lbs. I was running right around 205psi. I ended up running the Compression adjustments almost all the way open. I ran my HSR all the way in and just used my LSR to adjust rebound. I am running the LSR 7 clicks from closed. Bike feels pretty good. Using the stock volume spacer so far. Feels pretty good so far.

Im the same weight and i use 215psi to get 27% sag. From closed, i have 13 clicks on LSR and 12 on HSR. 15 on LSC and 13 on HSC . Default spacers which is 1. See if this works for you. For me it pedals great and can bum rush a rock garden. Im running one up composite pedals and not too many pedal strikes. I always have it in open, didnt feel it needed a lockout on climbs. I run my fork at 15% sag. Im still playing with the fork, maybe i need to go a little softer but i dont want it to dive.
Let me know if this works well and what score you get on the SW.

Ive noticed for a while now that if i leave the climb switch in the open setting, it will close on its own about half way which is really annoying. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Im not hitting it with my knee. It feels as though as the shock is being cycled, the climb switch slowly closes.

Here's a video of me opening the climb switch then cycling the shock and showing the switch closing halfway. Anyone else's shock does this?http:https://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5a7689d96af29/20180203_200449.mp4

Just a thought here... your climb switch opens pretty far back against the rebound circuits. Maybe it's not fully open when you do open it. The climb switch can be repositioned if you take it off and put it back on turned one position clockwise on the compression shaft. Careful with that little grub screw.

Worth a 5 minute fiddle. Plus shock would more fully open up. Like I said though, that might not be the problem.

It was doing it while it was in its original position. Ive rotated the lever back thinking i was kicking it with my knee.
The current lever position is in its fully open position.

Is the climb switch either open or close or is there a graduation of sorts. Maybe even at half way, the lever doesnt engage the climb circuit yet. Im hoping. Although i feel its more gradual meaning it increases compression dampening as you increase it linearly.

I am about to place my order for the GX build, but was slightly concerned about some of the components -
KS Lev Si - I am coming off a reverb, what am I giving up by going with a "budget" post, something I should consider upgrading?

Would love to get some feedback on the GRIP damper in the performance forks - are people generally happy with theirs?

Lastly - any notable differences with the budget Shimano brakes vs the XT spec? It looks like the rotors are not ice-tech, any other real world differences?

Hey Baltik,

I actually purchased the GX build because I got a good deal and was planning on buying frame only. With that said, I have swapped out the 36 grip damper for the RC2. I think the Grip damper felt great but I prefer the tunability of the rc2.

I thought the KS lev SI was great actually! I've had 3 reverbs and like the ks way better. The remote is very "meh" and setup can be a giant headache, but once that is sorted out it works and feels great and has been more reliable than all of my reverbs. However... I swapped that out for a Fox transfer because I preffer the transfer above all the others I've ridden and I already had it (again I was planning on a frame-up build).

As for the brakes... the XT's are alot better than the budget shimano brakes. I took my XT's and swapped them out immediately. And I am BY FAR not a shimano brake guy. I really don't care much for the XT's either but there is a substantial diffference.

So if I were you, skip on upgrading the fork unless you're a tinkerer, the KS lev si is fine by my standards, and upgrade the brakes and the rear shock. I got the DHX2 to start with and couldn't get on with it. Purchesed the float X2 and it's night and day difference.

Just my 2 cents! Happy trails!

So I ended up keeping my hd for quite a bit longer then I usually keep bikes. I even had it up for sale but took it off the market because I loved the thing but I'm getting a nomad 4 so first 2250 takes it. Large silver/grey x2 shock. excellent condition. doesn't have all the paint chips a lot of these hd's i see for sale have. message me if interested

More HD4 Stoke needed

I've had a med all black HD4 w the XT 1x build and X2 shock for two weeks. 10 rides in I'm loving it.
No climbing issues at all, yes it could weigh a little less but I can climb every switchback and rock ledge and it's so composed and confidence inspiring on the downs. Loves to jump and pump. Besides that it is beautiful.
For ref I'm 5-8.75 and 165 lbs w a 40mm stem.

That bike makes we wish I'd gone HD4 instead of HD3....guess I always can.
