Also if anyone is fighting bottle clearance issues the Arundal side loader cage is what the Ibis engineers use for the screw placement. I had issues with my Lezyne cage and clearance. Jeff Kendall Weed let me in on that little secret and all of my 21 oz bottles clear easily now.

 

Ibis recommends it and sells it on their site. It's just stupid expensive for a bottle cage.

 

im looking at getting a med frame, and am wondering if I can work with a bike yoke 160 dropper post, that the new hd4's are coming with. I have a short inseam 29-30", and am wondering if the bike yoke dropper can be fully inserted into the frame. anyone have this short an inseam and riding a size med w a 160 dropper? thoughts?

 

Max insertion depth on the medium frame is 255 mm and the Revive 160 is 264.5 mm from the bottom of the collar to the bottom of the activation lever so running it slammed will be very close.

 

I'm running a 170mm one up on a med with a similar inseam with room to spare. I do run 165 cranks and my seat slammed all the way forward which gives me more space as well. Dropper space is one of the great things about this frame.

My wife at 5' 6" rides my med HD4 with a 160 revive with a couple inches of lower post showing. Don't know if the post can be slammed but unless you are a couple inches shorter than 5' 6" you should be fine at pedal height.

No, don't give in to the $55 bottle cage! A $10 Symcros works fine as it has plenty of space to drill new holes where you want (unlike a Lezyne). Can easily fit a Podium bottle.

Mine has the DPX2 and I haven't ridden a X2 but I just converted my Fox 36 to a coil and it made me want a coil shock in the back because of how much better it rides. Not really an option on the HD4 and every review I have seen says the X2 is way more supple than the DPX2. If it were me, I would get the X2.

 

I agree. I bought the arundel because ibis recommended it. I didnt think it was anything special compared to any other cage except its a little lighter. I wouldnt recommend it, not worth the cost.

We spent an extra $35 so we didn't have to drill 2 new holes. My hourly rate is expensive. LOL

In general i like the HD4 shape and im sure it's a great bike (never tried it), but yours burned my eyes… I must say its one of the ugliest bikes i saw lately, but at least it fits the flag... :yikes:

I just installed a 2019 Float X2, now the tuning fun begins. I'm starting with Ibis' specs and I'll adjust from there.

jason04, I like the paint job. My HD4 has about 30 paint chips so I might be heading that direction eventually. Ibis apparently uses something equivalent to water color paints.

What shock Bob? The DPX2 seems to take more air pressure to get the same sag as the X2. I am 170 and it takes 225 PSI for 30% sag with DPX2.

My Fork I used to run 72-73 PSI but I switched to the Push ACS3 coil kit a month ago or so. WAY better than air.

 

Hi all-

I'm having trouble getting my shifting together after assembling with the new xtr build. I can't seem to get it to shift from the smallest cog up the next larger cog. one more shift and it jumps up to 3rd smallest cog, then all other shifts up and all the way back down work well. wondering if i have an alignment issue or something. LBS is looking at it and is mystified as well. anyone run into anything similar with new XTR kit? thanks

 

wondering if i got the spacers right on the bottom bracket install. It came with 3 plastic spacers, and i put 2 on the drivetrain side, and one on the other side.

 

Ibis has setup charts in their owners manual for both the fork and the shock.

 

Quick question about the stock nx eaglr hd4 build. I'm waiting for mine to arrive at my lbs and wanted to upgrade the crankset. I was wondering if it is boost chainring or regular? I'm looking at keeping with the dub interface but upgrade to xo cranks. Thank you

 

Rear end is boost spacing so you will need a boost crankset. Only difference between a boost crankset and non boost crankset is the offset of the chainring.

 

And it's 3mm offset, though some have said 6mm offset will work as well. I just did the same thing, upgraded to Truvativ crankset. Would have loved to been able to afford the X01. Problem with DUB is not any take-offs hitting the market place yet.

Olie12, I am running the XO1 drivetrain and have a 2.5mm inner spacer on the non-drive side (left) and a 2.5mm inner spacer on the drive side (right). Also, a 4.5mm outer spacer on the drive side (right). You may be missing the 2.5mm spacer on the non-drive side (left).

18 HD 4

GX build, Fit 4 Factory was my only mod at purchase, had an XT brake-set at home with 180 ice-tech rotors but went to 203's which if you're over 220lbs make a big diff. Would rather of gotten the 4 piston xt's but they had just come out and were way to expensive, still are.

 

Nice bike. That looks like you have a Fox Fit Grip2 fork on there? How do you like how the bike rides?
