I have had my PIKE at 150 and 160, (and then back at 150)

Going from 150 to 160
In tight turns and steep climbing i realy felt the drawback og the higher front and slacker angel. The steering got a bit to floppy for my likeings.
I did convince my self i could go a lot faster downhill, but when testing the fork at 150 again, i sat an record at an short "DH" segment...

I feel the HD3 is very vell balanced with an 150 fork.

Cmarshack.....what air pressures do you run in fork , shock, and tires and what is your weight? I'm trying to figure this thing out
You know that everyone is different and we all ride different terrain and attack with different skill levels.

That said, I have my Pike at 160 with 60 psi and two tokens with 3 clicks of rebound and 5 clicks of LSC. Feels good and use 100% travel on most hard rides.

Shock - Can't remember the exact settings but still tweaking. i am at 30% sag and still bottoming with too much HSC...so i am going to install another Volume spacer and bcak off the HSC so I can get rid of the high speed chatter crap that I started feeling once I bumped up the HSC. Don't get me wrong, this still rides better than my BikeCo custom tuned shock for my HD, but it can still be better with a little teaking.

Not even going to get into my tire pressures because I ride 741's and you have flows so no need to compare the apples and oranges there...but I do ride very low pressures..10 psi less than my Flow sized LightBike wheels I ran in my HD.

Go play around, drop $35 bucks on a 150mm shaft for the Pike and enjoy your bike however you end up setting it up.

It doesn't really matter, but from Ibis directly. It was built as a 150 bike with the option to install a 160 if desired. Like I said, doesn't matter, anyone out there ride both?
You could try running 10mm more sag in your fork. Should give you an idea on handling.

I have a 160mm X-Fusion sweep on mine. I do feel like the bike responds better in corners when I get my weight a little farther forward, but I have no desire to drop the fork travel.

Wheels n Tires oh my !!!!!

OK Wow. So on my old bike (Bronson) u had some Enve M60 s with Hr2 and an Ardent.
My new HD3 came with Flow ex wheels and Minion 2.3 Dhfs. I just swapped to Roval Traverse SL Carbon Fatties ( 31mm inner width) wheels with continue trail king / mountain king combo 2.4. I can now say with some adjustments to my fork and shock this bike fu×&#€!*÷ RIPS........I am in Love with this bike and this wheelset. All I can say is if you are not loving your HD3 , spend some time trying all different air pressures and rebound settings and invest in some good wheels. Best $ I spent on a bike in a long time.

Glad to hear as well...now you see why we were all saying no need to drop to 150...but you can if you want to.

ENJOY!!!

I have worn through the paint on my right chainstay to the carbon, and it only took about 200km of winter riding. I have worn through the paint in a few other places (eg. top tube). I'd advise a neoprene chainstay protector or the extended rubber protector if you ride right leg rear.

HD3 2x11 XT

After a long search, analysis, & test riding different sizes and build options along with other bike alternatives, my steed is finally here. XL HD3, 2x11 XT (M8000), RS Pike, Fox Float DPS, DT Swiss 350 on Stans Flow, Maxxis Minion DHF, KS Lev dropper. Thanks to Mark C at ProBike Supply for his patience, guidance and build flexibility. He even brought in an XL (when very few were available) to test ride when I visited his shop earlier this year. Thanks to Invisiframe for the fast production/shipment of the matte finish frame protection kit. First ride at South Mtn, Phoenix on familiar trails was so much fun. Only needed a few small tweaks in the ergonomics and suspension set up. Love how it rides high in the rear travel, but is still so small bump compliant. 2x11 XT works flawless and is dead quiet. Fantastic ride.
