What does everyone else have in the plans?

For all of you who seem to be waiting perpetually for delivery...

I had an order in with competitive cyclist that I placed on the release date (Nov 17) they told me that I might get it in January (but had no confirmed date).

Last Friday I emailed ProBikeSupply based on the build they had posted in another forum - they had what I wanted in-stock, built it the next day (Monday) - shipped it to me and it was delivered today (Tuesday).

Seems like some of the LBS / Distributors have the HD3's in stock and others on waiting in line - obviously your mileage may vary..

Ordered mine from CC on Nov 17th...med black. Initially told Dec 15, moved to Dec 17, finally to January 4th. Canceled and had build done "locally", within my State, anyhow. Actually made it easier in the end as I had all my parts to build it up myself. Just shipped it all to them and bike was done day frame arrived. Now need to go pick it up on Thursday. Can't wait to get her on the trails ASAP.

ETA: CC is great, don't get me wrong. It's just that I'm on vacation for the next three weeks. Getting the bike now vs. 2nd or 3rd week in January was a huge difference for me. I don't often have this much free time to ride.

Been accumulating parts, have some Derby rims being built up with King hubs right now, X01 drivetrain and a few other tidbits. Trying to decide on a dropper post, no way will I be getting another LEV, the one that came with my HDR has been back to the factory 3 times in 1 1/2 years. Average wait time of a month turnaround, seems like they are always waiting on a boat from China with parts. They have horrible customer service that will not return calls or e-mails (have a lot of friends with the same issue). The post I sent back in October was sent back to me over Thanksgiving but they fat fingered the address and it got shipped to the wrong place. Even though they messed up they will not return my calls or e-mails and make it right, I hope they eventually come through but I do not have high hopes. It smacks of a company about to go under, so beware.

Anyone have any experience with the Thomsen Covert? At least looking for a company with good customer service for my next dropper.

Thomsons are fantastic, best and most reliable post I've used. Rock solid with no play, and of course a great company. I'd run one on my Nomad and upcoming HD3 build but they don't yet make a 150mm version.

Ultimately my solution to the fact that no one makes a reliable 150mm dropper has been to buy a LEV Integra and a Reverb stealth. When one of them breaks and needs warranty service, I put the other one on. Sad but true.

Ive had great luck with my LEV... no issues. Every so often i pull it apart and clean it up,

How much do you guys ride? I average say 8 hours a week on the MTB and 10hrs on the road, just trying to understand where all the issues come from.

I just picked up the new design of the LEV integra, so i hope it is as reliable as the original. If not, i think i would switch to the Thomson as those guys have always been far above good quality.

No experience with the Thomson post, but I’ll leap right into the fire by saying I’ve had an overall great experience with the Reverb in my HD for over 3 years now. Sure, I’ve had to perform a partial rebuild on it about annually to rectify the same sudden air loss issue and to replace the bushings, but it’s relatively easy to do, and I don’t have to depend on outside help to get it back up and running. Considering that it provides instant, infinite positioning within its range, operates in a very hostile environment, and fully supports my 6’ 4”, 230 lb mass, it’s been great.

I’m also accumulating parts for the XL frame I won’t see ’till February, I just received my stealth Reverb. For wheels I just sent a new set of 741’s to have I9 Torch hubs installed. Can’t friggin wait.

Lump me in on the LEV failure bunch. For my next build, I'm actually planning on putting on my super natural instead of a LEV - heavier but mine has been solid.

BTW - If you don't know - there's a LEV rebuild thread in All Mountain - stellar work by the OP. If you follow his instructions, you'll have a working (no sagging) LEV. How long it lasts is another matter - the last rebuild I did included new O-rings so I'm hoping I get some mileage out of it this time.

Ibis Mojo HD3 Serial Number Location

Note to other new HD3 Owners:

I wanted to take notes on the serial numbers on the bike before I got it dirty, but couldn't find them. After looking and looking I resorted that I was a bit of a dullard and called Ibis up.

Protip: The serial is VERY faint (at least on blue it is nearly invisible) - it can only be really seen with a flash light. I found it easiest to see if I shined a light into the frame with the bike upside down - which back lit the serial number. Here's a photo that somewhat demonstrates this. Both with and out the light. HD3 Serial Number Location

The rear triangle's serial number is pretty much directly across from front - and can be exposed in a similar way.

Glad I read this early enough. Sitting in a Holiday Inn Express in Brevard, NC with a 4 pack of Dogfish Head 90minute IPA and a bag of doritos watching the movie Lorax. All to get the damn bike 270miles from home (I ain't complaining actually...great to get away once in awhile)

$ucking bike better be good and it damn well better have a Maxle.;)

Burp.....ugh.....need to go open another one. Doritors making my mouth dry.

Update pics and final specs will be posted tomorrow.

Received my wheelset today from Art's Cyclery. I went with the Spanks Oozy Trail 295 aluminum set. Came with rim tape already installed. Pretty light for an aluminum 26mm width wheelset, I weighed them in at 1770g for the set.

Still no word on my frame from Competitive Cyclist. Original said they would receive it from Ibis on the 17th. A rep told me they got some in on the 16th and that mine might be in there. No word since. I talked to them today and they said the warehouse is busy this time of year and to check back tomorrow.

Picked up my bike today. Looks great. To confirm a few questions:
1. Yes, a Maxle comes standard;
2. No the downtube guard is not necessarily standard with frame orders. My not so LBS requested the down tube guard with the frame order. Its was a $25 up-charge for it. So, it may be worth confirming with whomever you placed an order. Not sure about complete builds...

3. Pike clears similar to Fox 36. No contact with the zip tie at all (the square ratchet part needs to be facing out).

Jazzanova.....not 100% sure the Avy won't fit as the height is more centered. No doubt it'll be close. It's worth giving it a formal look-see at some point over the next few days to know for sure. I'll report back. Need to make a few tweaks to the setup tonight and tomorrow. Want to get the new bike BS over with and just ride. I'll get some pics up before I get her dirty as it'll be the last time she's every be truly clean again.

ETA: some torque spec info for the HD3 from Ibis: not in Ibis book yet

So both Salespunk and Drewbird will have HD3's AND Nomad's at the same time. Normal guy height vs. tall tree Drewbird and dry SoCal vs Great Pacific Northwest sounds like an ace situation for a pair of comparisons.

Look forward to a photo from SP with his Smurfette gumball blue Nomad next to his Porsche 917 colored HD3. I'll put on sunglasses before clicking that link.
