Finished building mine Friday and did between 10 and 11K of climbing over the weekend, bike climbs amazing and handles so well on the downs, I can't imagine a bike that fits my needs better.

I'm 6' 2" (prolly a little less now due to shrinkage) riding an XL, was not sure about the dropper length, so I used a 125 Lev I had laying around, it's close to being at the maximum insertion point for me as an FYI (non-stealth routes super cleanly via the front derailleur ports BTW). Running 780mm wide bars and a 35mm stem, I've been running a 50 on my XL HDR and this puts me in a similar stance on the bike. Fit and handling are spot on for me.

The Float X2 shock is phenomenal! If you have yet to take delivery of your bike I'd highly recommend calling your LBS and upgrading to it.

I'm looking to order a medium HD3 soon and wondered if anyone can give me the weight of a Med. XTR werx kit with a DBI and Fox 36. I'm still debating which fork and shock to get

I demo'd the bike with a Fox this weekend and it was Phenomenal but want it to come in less than 28 lbs.

Thanks in advance!

After a 7 month wait due to delays/mixups with wheels and decals and brakes (old ones were out of commission), here's mine

A mix of old and new parts.

Drivetrain was from my Mojo SL, XTR brakes are new.

Forked up a bit extra for the I9 hubs which my LBS gave me a good deal on since they ordered the wrong 741 wheelset initally - hence the delay (they ordered the one with the XD driver)

Performs brilliantly. Clocked Strava personal records on 10 (ten!) segments on my first ride, hit some dropoffs with ease and confidence (compared to my Mojo SL).

Hans Dampf tires are very grippy but feel slow on the flats and hardpack. I have a set of Bontrager XR4/XR3 that I can't wait to try after a few more rounds on the current tires

Medium blue HD3 with CCDB inline
I'm 1.72m
Weight with pedals 12.62kg

Rockshox Pike RCT3 160mm solo air
CCDB inline
Ibis 741 wheels with I9 hubs
KS Lev dropper 150mm (non stealth) with Southpaw lever
XTR M9000 brakes
XTR M970 cranks
HT ME01 pedals
Raceface SIXC bars 20mm rise (800mm uncut for now)
Easton Haven 50mm stem
XTR M980 10spd shifter
XT M786 shadow+ rear derailleur
XTR M980 11-36 cassette
Raceface narrow wide 34T chainring
Schwalbe Hans Dampf 2.35 (f) and 2.25 (r) with maxxis ultralight tubes at 23/25psi

12.62kg

So I put a deposit on a Black Medium HD3!.So stoked.

This is my build
XTR 1x11 Werx
Shock Float X2
Fork Fox Float 36 RC2 160mm
Headset Cane Creek 40 ZS
Stem Thomson 50
Handlebar Ibis Carbon HiFi Handlebar - 740mm
Brakes Shimano Deore XT BL/BR-M785
Saddle WTB Valcon
Seatpost KS LEV Integra, with KGP remote
Crankset RaceFace Next SL Cinch 175mm
Chainring RaceFace Turbine Cinch 30T Blue
Rear Derailer RD-M9000, XTR, GS 11-SPEED
Pedals Straightline Amp
Wheels Ibis 741

Still deciding on tires and hubs but will probably go with the stock DT Swiss hubs and see how the Minions do. I demod an HD3 with Hans Dampf in Tahoe and they performed really nice in the soft and loose stuff but wonder how well they would do on hardpack.
I'll put some blue highlights on the bike as I like some color.
We went for a ride today and all I could think of is it sure would have been nice to be ripping this on a new HD!

"I'm building up an HD3 for wifey and looking at the seatpost options. Has anyone directly compared the weight on a KS LEV Integra versus the Thompson Elite Covert?"

Skip the KS LEV Integra - I had one for a while, it worked great in the UK and did seem a lot nicer than my GD

But the seals failed while riding out in the states - one week into a trip out stateside I rocked up to catch the whole enchilda shuttle and found the post had dropped a couple of inches and that there was oil trickling out of the stealth port at bottom of frame - luckily enough for me i had brought a spare gravity dropper with me so i was able to pull out the ks lev and then i fitted the gravity dropper up at moonlight meadows when the shuttle dropped us off with just a few allen keys.

Reading around the web it seems as though the seals in the kv lev dont like big altitude changes or cold weather.....

Also when i got home i had to give up on warranty repair after waiting a month and then getting someone elses post sent back to me - in the end i got my money back

I've gone back to gravity droppers as although they look ugly - they just work - and everything can be be repaired / maintained yourself. And for the adventure rides you and your wife do reliability should be your focus rather than weight

My LBS got my Medium frame in today. Looks nice with the new Fox X2 and I'm really excited about how the shock is going to perform.
I was also happy to see the kit shipped with the 2016 Fox fork with the QR axle!
6.52 lbs for black frame, X2 shock, seat post clamp, bottom bracket and downtime guard.
Hope to be riding it this weekend!
Well let's see a pic!

I have searched on this and cannot find an answer anywhere.

I currently have the XX1 cranks that I pulled off of my HD and I was runnning the 168 Q-Factor on that bike.

Can you run the 156mm on the HD3? Anyone doing this without clearance issues?

I am thinking on moving to 170mm and could narrow my q factor at the same time if they work with the HD3.

One of the best surprise things about going with XX1 drivetrain was having a wider 168mm width......so much better for a trailbike to have wider q for climbing, applying pedal leverage for cornering, wider = more stable landing jumps and technical sections, etc. Q-factor might be important for XC racing and spinning, but for rowdy trailbikes it does not make as much sense. Also, if you use 5.10 or wider flat style shoes the chainstay rub will be a lot worse, bad even.

170mm cranks? Noticed more pedal strikes initially with HD3 (175mm standard), so 170mm could be of benefit....but with more time on the HD3 the pedal strike issue is not noticable any longer.

Picked up my medium black HD3 Saturday and took it out for a couple of short rides.
Wow, give it the reins and let it run!
Coming from an SLR, the HD3 is so much more stable on the downs and there may be a little loss climbing but I found that a shift of the weight forward and it really improves the climbing ability.
I have the Fox X2 tuned to Factory spec and same with the Fox 36 fork to begin with and have been playing with the HSC to see how it effects the ride.
Can't wait to get it on a longer ride in Tahoe this weekend!
XTR 1X Werx build. 27.73 pounds
