Here's mine....

This was largely a parts swap with my beloved HDR650b, which I sold to a good friend who was looking to upgrade from his 2006 SC BLT. I've only had one ride on it, and it was not in anger, so can't really do a proper ride review, but overall it felt fun and solid.

Can't wait to start pushing it. Apologies for the craptastic pics. Will post more once it's good and dirty!

Medium Black HD3 frame
DB Inline
RS Pike at 150 for now (will bump it today maybe)
Thompson 50mm X4 stem
Ibis Carbon bar
ODI Rogue grips
CK headset
CK hubs with LB 35mm wide rims,
Sapim spokes; wheels built by Jude at Sugar Wheel works
RF Next SL cranks; 30t ring.
RF BB
SRAM XX1 rear der
XX1 shifter
XX1 Cassette
Shimano XTR trail brakes (LOVE them, still!)
Shimano XT Trail SPDs
Straitline flats (I flip flop flats & clips)
MRP AMP carbon guide/skid plate (tolerance seems tight! Might have messed this up somewhere...)
KS LEV (still loving this post, like being able to swap it around easily too)
WTB Ti saddle

Weight... Not sure. Lighter then my old HDR650b though. Will update with weight.

Here's my HD3 Special Blend with KS Dropper, Ibis 741's and a 1X10 conversion. I'm loving this bike.

The only thing I'm going to change is the seat as it's a pain in my @$$.
Clean setup! I had the x-fusion slant for a while. awesome fork! awesome company to work with! I put a little more air pressure than I normally would but other than that best bang for the buck!

Word of advice, when you go to service your wipers (if you plan on doing it yourself), a double chainring bolt will save you from stripping the bottom nuts when trying to unseat the damper (I learned the hard way).

Have fun!

My first build and despite some hang ups getting frame parts etc. I couldn't be happier. Not exactly my original build spec but due to some parts availability I went with a few alternate specs.

Large Blue Frame
RaceFace Next SL Cranks
RaceFace Next 35 20mm rise bars
RaceFace half neslson grips
RaceFace Turbine 50mm stem
RaceFace Affect Saddle
RaceFace Atlas Pedals
Avid Guide RSC brakes with 180/160 centerline rotors
Rockshox Rever Stealth
Cane Creek 110 headset
Fox 36 Fork
Cane Creek DB inline
Ibis 741 wheelset with the DT Swiss hubs
SRAM X01 shifter and cassette
Conti TrailKing 2.4 front
Conti Mountain King II 2.2 rear

Going to add a MRP ISCG 05 bash guard.

Only have had a chance to get a real short ride in but totally love this bike. I have a lot of adjustments to do on the shock. @ 175-180 geared up it seems like I am blowing through the travel. Need to play with the pressure tune etc. Not sure if it is just the fact of coming of my tallboy or not, but wow, this bike is huckable. Seem like it is born to fly! Also need to dial in the fork and tire pressure. Anyways , bike <3

Got the bike in and was able to do 12 miles. I hate saying this cause it sounds like I'm saying it cause the bike is new but I broke all personal records of every segment I rode on the new bike. Including climbs! And thats all done in the start of the season with fitness not on par with last year.

Tapatalk app won't let me upload a pic but will have one soon

I ordered a Med on March 3rd and am still waiting. I am 5'10 with a 29" inseam. I have always rode Med frame on Turner and Pivot bikes, most recently a Mach 5.7. The bike shop I ordered the bike from was certain I should get a Med. After waiting about 6 weeks I called Ibis and asked them what I should be on and they said Large hands down. I then switched to a Large and due to the change will wait into May for sure to get my new bike. I am stressed about this now as I have no way to know who is right. Anyone have any advise based on their sizing experience?

#852 ·
I'm 5'11" with a 30.5" inseam.

I went with a large HD3, 50mm stem, Ibis Hi-Fi 760 Riser, 125 KS Lev Interga, Adamo Peak saddle.

I found that the handle bars were not resting in my hands in a way that I was use to, a way that was more comfortable. So after about 2 months of riding, I rotated the Ibis handle bar forward about 30 degrees. This rotation gives me about 8 degrees of rise and 4 degrees of back sweep. But, it also gives me more reach, which I find to be more comfortable. That said, I will probably order a 70mm to replace the 50mm stem.

On a large, one issue that you may run into is running a dropper post. I have my 125mm dropper post fully inserted into the seat tube. When the dropper post is fully extended, I find that my legs are in a very comfortable peddling position (705mm from bottom bracket to top of seat). You may find this comfortable or you may need more/less extension.

Another way to verify is if you currently own a bike, you can measure the distance between the bottom bracket and the top of your seat. You can then compare that measurement to the HD3 125mm KS Lev saddle height range specs on the Ibis website:
New! HD3 | Bikes

The Stack and Reach specs are also something you should revue...

Long story, but if my math is correct, your torso is 0.5" shorter than mine. And if you are like me, you may appreciate the longer top tube that the large offers.

Got my HD3 stock from our LBS here in the Philippines:

Small 917 HD3 frame w/ CC DB Inline
Fox 36 RC2
Ibis Carbon Bars
Thompson X4 Stem
Renthal Kevlar Lock-On Grips

KS LEV Integra
Ibis CR-MO Saddle

ZTR Flow EX
Speed Tune Hubs (plan to upgrade real soon)
Maxxis DHF Minion (2.3)

RF Turbine cranks and bottom bracket
Spank Spike pedals
XTR M9000 rear derailleur
XTR shifter
XTR 11-40 Cassette
XT brakes and discs

Coming from a Mojo SL, this HD3 is just mind-blowing! Thanks Ibis for such great products! Cheers!

(I have nothing to compare to except an old, early 2000's intense tracer 4"er.)
Just picked up a Large HD3 XO1 werx. My first real bike. Everything stock with this build. I was going to order a medium but they had a large in stock and after scouring threads on it I decided to go large cuz it felt so good sitting on it and riding around the parking lot (there was no opportunity to demo anything I wanted here in Reno). I'm 5'9" 2/3 140lbs, 32 in inseam (I measure inseam all the way past my junk to pelvic bone) and 6' wingspan and couldn't be happier with a large and I was super hesitant not going medium. Using 150 ks and 50mm stem.
My first impressions on my new 6" enduro beast was holy ****!...this thing climbs amazing!!! Screw cross country bikes imo. There's no use for 'em. If you put a Talas on this thing it'd be even better all around but I'm super happy climbing with my Fox 36.

#864 ·
I'm 5'9" on the nose and I'd say I'm on the true cusp b/w a med and large. I prefer a smaller bike since I'm more trail/XC oriented rider so I went med, no regrets. I tried the whole super short stem thing with ultra wide bars...hated it. I'm back to a 60mm stem and 740 bars. I rode a 80mm stem on my med HD and was recommended to drop down 20mm in length, I'm now convinced the real world difference is really only about 10mm.

#866 ·
I think large is the way to go. Better to run a 35 or 50mm stem than a 70 or 80mm. Plus I'm 5''11" and have owned turners and pivots a d always gone large. I'm sure a 125mm dropper will work fine on a L HD3 for you. One question. Either you're all torso or you are giving us your trouser inseam not your cycling inseam ?

HD3 XL matte black

HD3 XL frameset....28 lbs.

Transferred most of the kit from the 2010 Mojo HD. This bike is sooo much better and a blast to ride.....glad I went for the HD3! The SRAM Guides are new, as is the DB Inline.....both have been very impressive so far.

160mm solo Pike, CC DB Inline
SRAM XX1 drivetrain, 32T
SRAM Guide RSC Brakes, 180R, 200F Centerline rotors
Renthal Carbon bar, GamuT Cillos stem 50mm, Gwin grips ODI
King headset
LEV Integra 150mm seatpost
Ibis 741 wheelset
Schwalbe Hans Dampf 2.25R, 2.35F

Still awaiting my frame... It'll be a Large, Green, CC InLine

I have everything sitting in boxes in my garage... frame can't get here soon enough!

Pike 150 RCT3
X01 drive train
X0 GXP carbon crank
30T AbsoluteBlack oval narrow/wide chain ring (Green!)
XT brakes, 180 Ice-Tech rotors
Ryde Trace Enduro wheels, 29mm internal, asymmetrical rims (3mm offset) for balanced spoke tension and stiffer wheel build - 1674g!
On-One Chunky Monkey 2.4 TR front tire (built on Ardent 2.4 casing, burlier tread… kinda like a higher volume DHF)
Vee Trail Taker 2.4 rear tire (have Ardent EXO TR 2.25 as well)
KS Lev Ti 125mm dropper
Crank Brothers Iodine 11 saddle
RaceFace SIXC 785mm flat carbon bar
ODI Rogue grips (Green!)
55mm Easton Haven stem

Should be fun. Not going to be XC racer light, but will come in under 27.5 lbs, which is pretty killer for a burly, 150mm AM bike!

I finally got a good ride on mine and PR'd the entire descent even though it was very crowded and had to stop on at least a half dozen times to let the climbers come by. I am sure that I would have killed all of my PR's on the climbs as well if I was not stopping to make seat, shock, fork and cockpit adjustments as well as taking a few pics!

This bike simply kills my HD in every aspect!

SOOOOO worth the wait!!!!

Here are a few pics along with a preview of how my decals will look once fully tinted (I accidentally cut the tint at 29mm wide instead of 30 so the edges are showing, but you can get the idea)...I think it's going to look sick!
