Hey everyone,

I have a 2015 Pivot Mach 4 and I'm looking to get a more trail oriented bike. I was looking at Jenson's Ibis Mojo 3 SLX Rockshox build for $3599. Do you guys think this is a good build for the price or would you recommend purchasing the frame from Ibis for $2899 and doing a custom build on my own? My budget is max $4000 but I could be tempted to spend up to $4500. And at recommendations for a shop near Thousand Oaks or even online that would be able to build me a Mojo 3 with the budget that I have? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The Jenson SLX bike is excellent value at that price and you won’ be able to build a bike with a frame at $4000/4500, unless you have all of the other parts that you need already.

To put it another way: with a frame at $2800, and a XT drive train, you will be around the same price as the Jenson bike, but you still need a fork, wheels, tires, saddle, cockpit, etc...

Also the Mojo 3 is a great trail bike.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah that's what I figured. I thought the price from Jenson was pretty good too.

Looks like I'll purchase the Jenson build. Just need to decide to either upgrade my Mach 4 with a Fox 130mm 34 fork and keep it as my XC/light trail bike or get the Mojo 3 as my "all in one" bike.

Just a heads up. I got a m3 from Jenson a few months back. Definitely call them to see what they can do. I started with the nx build but uprgraded to the logo 742 carbon rims, Lo fi carbon bars, gx casette and xd driver, gx shifter, ergon grips, magura mt trails sport brakes and magura storm rotors, one up composite pedals, and minnion dhf 2.6 and recon 2.6 and ended up spending on 4700 plus there was no tax. Definitely call them to see what they can do. Also they upgraded my to the factory dps evol which was a nice surprise when the bike was delivered. If you didn't swap the tires and brakes you would be within your budget

I guess that makes sense. When I built it up using thier online bike builder it was super expensive, but I didn't call. I got a sweet deal from Jenson over the phone and was able to substitute for the parts I wanted. So I guess it is all who you talk to. The one nice thing with jenson was that there was no tax to NY, which saved me over $400 alone
