A jet like the Mojo 3 deserves it's own Picture and Build thread, WHOOT WHOOT!

My build is pretty much an XO1 Werx. I've been running it as a 27.5+ and have posted a review of it for ya!

Mojo 3 with 160 fork slays the downhills... But don't get one.

I'm reluctant to post this because I'm enjoying the uniqueness of my Mojo 3 build and don't want anyone else to have one like mine, but I'm a giver.

I'll cut to the chase: This bike is amazing with a Pike Dual Air 130/160 Boost fork.

So, coming from a steep and flickable Mojo SL and riding lots of narrow trails with tight, twisty turns, I felt the HD3 ride to be muted and sluggish for my tastes, although I enjoyed the HD3's descending prowess. Well, the Mojo 3 has the quick handling of my Mojo SL *and* the descending capability of the HD3.

My bike is shod in 42mm Nox Kitsuma carbon hoops with 2.4" tires that look closer to 2.6" tires on the wide rims... Traction for days.

I'm 5'9" on a large M3 and the cockpit feels great w/40mm stem... both seated and standing. The reach on the M3 is a bit more than the HD3 in the same size so a tad more knee room while standing which is most important. Steeper seat angle on M3 has the cockpit feel a bit shorter while seated but knees aren't banging bars standing and weight distribution is better for seated, steep climbs. Overall, M3 is ideal IMO.

Quick question for those who purchased full bike options: do both the mediums and larges come with a 150mm dropper?

Im still debating between M and L. The 150 dropper on the L I demoed was barely too long. This isn't the only factor or even the most important one, but I'd hate to buy the M because I want the 150 dropper and it arrives with a 125mm.

Looking at the X01 or XT 1x builds.

Thanks.

Couple of small changes to my Mojo 3 build.

I tidied up all the lines - brakes, gears, dropper - and routed everything the same as on my HD3 i.e. dropper fully stealth, rear brake line internal etc.

Also fitted a southpaw, as the OEM Lev remote isn't super. The Lev has needed to be sent away for repair a couple of times, so I've been swapping back and forth between the Mojo 3 and HD3 quite a bit over the last month. Both great bikes!

Pretty sure that I'm going to pull the trigger tomorrow on a XT 1x 2.8NN build. Gotta say I'm excited. I do have a question though: For those of you with the Easton Arc wheels, what hubset is Ibis using? I looked but didn't see this anywhere. Thanks everyone!.

Well, the snows melting and I finally got a few different rides in on the awesome new Ibis M3! I built the bike around a new Mojo3 frameset, a replacement for my HD3, which after a season I had concluded was a bit overbuilt for most of the trail riding I do. In the process of the M3 swap, I lost .9 lbs in frame weight (vs. HD3-lg.) which is very significant to me. Most noticeable w/ the M3, in addition to being lighter is the rear end stiffness afforded by the boost rear, shorter CS, shorter links and the added stability of the lower BB. The bike climbs like a billy goat and tracks like it is on rails coming down. I have yet to bottom the rear suspension and it rides like it has more travel than 130 mm.

Initially, I ran a traditional 27.5 x 2.3 tire setup. The bike felt nimble and every bit a trail bike.
Then for fun, I mounted up a new NN 27.5 x 2.8 front tire and couldn't wait to try out the big meat (didn't get around to swapping out the rear tire to 27.5 plus). I rode the same trail as w/ the 2.3's, now w/ 27.5 plus front and same Rock Razor 27.5 x 2.3 rear and holy......, I cannot believe the ride inspiring confidence afforded by the plus size tire up front! The first impression I had is where is the motor, as in MX! I found myself mowing through rock gardens and over chunder that used to make my eyes jiggle, now instead it was like the trail obstacles were not even there! The increase contact patch and front end cornering traction is off the charts.
I should mention that I initially ran a Pike 150 fork, but felt that the steering was a tad slow, so I am now running the Pike at 140. Perfect. One observation w/ M3 is that the seat angle is quite steep, which required some getting used to for me as it makes riding at full seat extension feel very upright. The plus size tire up front seems to raise the front end just enough that the SA feels a tad more relaxed. By direct tire height comparison, I was pleased to learn that the Schwalbe NN 27.5+ is only 1/4" taller at the axle than its 2.3 counterpart, yet affords an actual tread width of about 2.6 (vs 2.2), all w/only a 100 gm +- increase in tire weight. So for now, I am liking this tire configuration and will try the plus tire in the rear next. The nice thing about the M3 (and HD3 boost swingarm) is that Ibis has given us tons of options!

QUESTIONS/HELP:

Ok, sold my beloved HD3 to build a Mojo 3. I have the build figured out except for a couple of items and I have a question for the experts here on the fork options.

It seems there are three options for the fork:

- Fox Boost 27.5+, 140mm fork
- Pike
- 27.5 Boost fork, 140mm
- 27.5+/29 Boost fork, 140mm

I am assuming Ibis and most here are running the standard Pike 27.5 Boost fork, correct? Will that fork accommodate a Nobby Nic? What are the differences between the standard 27.5 Boost fork and the 27.5+/29 Boost fork? Sorry to pepper with questions, but none of the technical support material I can find shows this information.

BRAKES:
I currently have bikes with XT M8000, XTR and Guide RSC brakes. I'm considering XT M8000 or Guide Ultimates for the M3 (though I'll stick with XTR shifting). What are your suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
TA

akaktm: I've been riding the Pike RCT3 Dual Position Air 130/160 Boost Fork - 27.5 on my Mojo 3 for the past 6 weeks and LOVE it! It's like having both a Mojo 3 and HD3 in the same bike. I haven't tried Nobby Nics yet, but it has a ton of tire clearance. I'm waiting until we get enough reviews to gauge the weight vs. durability on the plus tires before I try them. I'm running a 2.4" Mountain King up front now, but it looks closer to a 2.6" tire on my 36/42mm wide Nox Kitsuma rims.

Crossmaxx, I don't have Ultimates, but RSC Guides and I like the Guides and Shimano about equal. Both have pros and cons. Ultimately I'll likely go with Shimano due to cleaner mounting of XTR shifter.

Thanks goto11: I was running 2.4 Trail and MKs. I didn't have great luck with those. Both had to be warranty replaced and took a long time to seal. At least Conti stood behind them unlike Maxxis.

Recently I've been trying b+ with 2.8 and 3.0 and am really liking it. Unfortunately I just learned the Pike boost will not accept a 3.0 and the 2.8 is relatively tight. Looks like I'll go Fox on fork. It's also a hair lighter.

Thank you all.

I don't have the specific a2c measurements at hand, but the fox 27.5+ is essentially a 29er fork. Make sure it won't wreck your geo before you purchase.

Fox does have a boost fork coming for 27.5 wheels for the 2017 model year.

Ive ridden a lot of very nice bikes over the years (Turner 5 spot, HD, Ripley, T275c, HD3, Mojo3...only demo'd HD3 and M3). I LOVE my T275c and will not part with it, but the Mojo3 is an incredible bike. I was literally blown away by the M3. Super playful, corners better than anything ive ever ridden, and it keeps ups with all of them on anything that I would ride on a daily basis (everything but the bike park, unless you ride the North Shore everyday), probably even passes them. I pulled the trigger a week or so ago on one, and am eagerly awaiting arrival and completion of my mountain bike dreams. Its that good :)
