Hey all,
So I just had my shop install the new Absolute+ damper and the corresponding MILO handlebar-mounted switch. The damper is amazing! However, the MILO sucks, but I think it may be an installation issue. Before I take it back to my shop, I wanted to check with anyone who may currently be using it...

Here's the deal: It pushes down ok I guess (sorta sluggish), but is way slow at unlocking when I push the bottom. The cable rarely even pulls back all the way...think of a mechanical brake lever that doesn't really spring back when you let go of it. I tried adjusting cable tension down on the cap, but w/ no results.

Anyone else having this problem or know how to troubleshoot it?

Thanks

grease the hex adapter

Try greasing the hex adapter o-ring with some white lith or silicon grease. The hex adapter is the part that the knob screw screws into....it basically connects the knob to the damper needle.

Take off the knob with a 2mm allen and remove all the corresponding MILO parts, then on the top cap there is a cir-clip holding a retaining washer and the hex adapter in. Remove that cir-clip with a pick or screwdriver (carefully) and pull out the hex adapter. Grease that o-ring and reinstall. Re-setup the MILO and you should be good to go.

Oh, not trying to be a douche, but it's a damper...not dampener. It doesn't make things wet :p
Just a little pet peeve of mine

I'm having the same issue - glad I found the thread. Can you tell me how to remove that tiny retainer clip over the o ring? I consider myself pretty mechanically inclined, and do most of my bike work - but I'm not wanting to mess up my new fork by doing something stupid. Should the retainer clip just pop out, or do I need to pry it inwards and then up. I'm assuming it clips in somehow to keep the silver washer or o ring in place. Is that right? Any more help would be greatly appreciated. I can't get the spring to pull the cable back after unlocking it with the MILO button.

the retainer clip has a slant edge on one side. the slanted edge is so that you can fit a pick or tiny screwdriver, or something to that effect and pry inward, then upward. You are correct that the clip holds in both thesilver retaining washer and the entire hex adapter piece (which has said o-ring that needs greasing).

You need to be careful/delicate when removing the clip because the material on the top side of the clip groove is rather small and can easily be sheared off if you aren't pulling the clip inward first, then up to remove.

I used two picks; one to stop the flat end of the clip from spinning around, and one to grab the slanted edge. pry inwards until it is out of the groove, then upward to remove. It's much easier re-installing than removing.

Thanks for changing the terminology...lol
