Most puzzling to me is "Nixon." Is that after some rider or ?? Right now, the word makes me think of the former president.

Judy was a girl of Paul Turner's at the time, right? At least that's the story I heard.
I think Vanilla is because it is a plain coil shock, Vanilla as in plain.
Float because the bike "floats" on air, the spring being air.
It would be nice if they big boys would chime in and gives up a bit of insight, but I guess that the answers are left to our imagination.
