Any Mach 429 Trail owners out there that have tried a 44mm offset fork on your M429T? Swapping the uppers on my stock 2017 F34 from 51mm to 44mm is something I would need to do anyway if I bought a 2020 frame, so I am thinking about first trying it on my 2017 429T to see how it feels. My goal would be to make my 429T a bit more downhill capable. Ifind it to be an awesome ride on any type of terrain below 15mph. But once the speeds start increasing, the other bikes I have tried lately (Tallboy and Ripley v4) are more capable.

It will shorten the wheelbase----aggravating your concern but slow down steering a bit---hard to predict if you could tell any difference--there are lots of threads on this general topic which run the gamut of it changes the world to it is a marketing ploy to get us to buy new stuff. Note the 2020 Pivot T429 uses 51MM.

I would suggest changing out the air spring for a 140MM---slacken the hta about .5 degree and give a bit more travel. But in the end that bike is designed to be snappy and on the XC side of a trail bike and it a great bike in those conditions.

I have found the Ripley to also be on the XC side of the trail spectrum and the TB4 more on the enduro side. GEO (hta and reach) play a bigger role than fork offset.
