HI, I took my '15 XLR damper out and replaced all the seals no problem. I accidentally un-assembled the shaft and didnt see how the washers, damping washers and other small parts came apart. Im having a time trying to figure out how to reassemble the shaft. Theres also a small pen spring with a very tiny piece of aluminum that goes somewhere. I hope spmeone can help or has a diagram of how the parts go together. Thanks in advance for any help

Yes sir. I did the 2 spring update while I had it apart. Ive learned that the metal rod that slides through the damping chamber is call the telescope. Inside the damper chamber (where the oil lives) the telescope unthreads at the damper wave washers. It came aprt inside while I was working on it accidentally and I did not see the order in which it cam apart so I dont now the reassembly order. If I had a diagram of the insides I'd be set!

Thanks for all the responses so far!!!

Give me a pic of the parts that you have disassembled and the damper so I can see where you're stuck. It sounds like the LSC checkvalve and spring and the blowoff shims and spings. However, it might be the compression and rebound shims stacks. Pics will help. There have been different iterations of valving over the years.

First things first, you need to measure the diameters and thickness of each of the 8 shims you have. Use calipers or a mic. Next, there should be a little disc looking piece that sets on top of the small spring. It's the LSC check valve. It's probably up inside the threaded piston connect attached to the gold blow-off piston. Simply tap the piston connect on the table top and it should come out.

Ok that was the bottom row of shims measurements

the top row from largest dia to smallest as follows;
.08
.13
.08
.15

I moved the tiniest to the top row now its the .15 one

I really appreciate your help here by the way

Slide either one of the little, round piston spacers onto the piston connect. The beveled side needs to face towards the shims (the opposite side of the + side you have showing laying on the towel) After that, put on the small diameter .05 shim then the large diameter .08 shim and then the small .15 shim.

Next, you'll put the next big diameter .15 shim against the bottom side of piston, then the .13 and .10 shim and then .08 and then lastly the small .10 shim. Next is the other piston spacer--bevel facing towards shims so they can flex....

Take a little grease to 'glue' the tiny check valve to the smaller spring. Flat face against the spring. Slide it carefully up into the piston connect. A small drop of the blue loctite on the threads of the piston connect and thread the lower shaft on the piston connect. Use a light torque because you can shear off the piston connect. Just snug it up with the wrenches but cautiously.

Thanks so much! The big long spring goes down in the telescope tube then the little white plug with O-ring goes in after it. Q? does the little hole go in first facing the long spring or the open end of the hole/telescope tube?
