Working on completing my first SS. I have a converted Kona Cinder Cone with a Kona P2 rigid fork. I'm running Avid single digit v brakes. I need help with tire selection please!
The local trails are generally cross country with fair share of roots and can be pretty muddy in the wet months.
Questions:

1. Any P2 owners that can tell me what the largest volume knobbie tire will fit that fork?
2. How about a Cinder Cone owner? What largest rear tire will fit?
3. How can I acurately measure frame and fork to 'shop' for high volume knobbies?

Thanks for the help!

Caldera

I've got a 05 Caldera with 2.4 Motoraptors on it. That's about as big as i can safely go. I think it is the same frame as a Cinder Cone.

Sorry, Can't help ya' with the P2 fork

saw some 2.1 raptors today...

I saw some 2.1 raptors today at the local store. I'll probably have to look on-line for some 2.4's

Can you run them pretty low pressure?

You might look for some 2.25 moto. I think price point had some at a good deal. Here is a pix with a 2.4 on the front and a 2.25 on the rear.
Thanks for the pics - Looking at my frame and the P2 it looks like I can un a larger front than rear. Can you run them at low enough pressure to get some cush without pinch flatting and sacrfice to handling?

Yep

I run mine with a Stans conversion. On the 2.4 I run 'em at about 27lbs. on the 2.25,29 lbs. they can be a little rolley at those presures, and you should not do any BIG jumps or they will burp. If you put them at about 36 they will do fine, and you can catah a little more air. I mostly ride XC so I go forthe traction and ride quality.

I've got a 2.6 Serfas on my P2, taking it off is a drag, but there is plenty of clearance for riding. About 3/8" on each side.

I can't find that tire - what am I doing wrong? What is the Serfas 'full name'?
Also - are you running v brakes or discs?

Thanks!
