You'll have to excuse my ignorance on this hub, I haven't seen one in ages; but you could try and tighten the freehub body back onto the hub. Sometimes excessive play when you move the cassette side to side (as opposed to the direction it freewheels/engages when pedaling, tough description sorry) by tightening the freehub body. Shimano hubs will be able to do this by removing the axle from the hub and using a 12mm allen wrench to tighten the body. This could be a good learning experience for you but it wouldn't hurt to watch some videos or read some information about it first online. You'll need cone wrenches and you'll need to understand how to adjust tension on hub bearings to get this done by yourself.thanks for chiming in, i think they are the cheap hubs , the wheels are sun ditch witch, i read reviews here there are not that good neither .
from the few mins i rode the bike before i bought it, the freehub engages fine, i know the clicking sound is not a big deal, there is some play when i grab the casstte and try to move it. maybe i should just get a new wheelset.
It sounds like it's basically the same process as your BMX hubs but if you don't have cone wrenches then you might not be able to get at the flats on the cones of the hub. I would say to take it into the shop, it should cost around $15 or $20 (as a guess) and will be your best bet until you're ready to make the expenditure for the tools.i will def try that when the chain wrech and cassette socket comes in , the play im talking about is side to side.
unfortunately, i dont have any cone wrenches at the moment, working on bike is just not my priority now. but i have done a rear hub bearings replacement on my bmx,i know its differnt from montain bike, its still kinda tricky when tighten the nut on the bearing and the lock nut next to it together, i had to hold the axle and bearing nut still while tightening the lock nut.
ive been watching a lot of videos and stuffs, the thing is on the interent you dont know if something is correct or not for noob like me. do you mind post a couple of links to video and article?
thanks
