Need to replace my fox float dps rear shock. I presently have a factory series. I do not tend to play with adjustments very much. I set the sag, adjust the rebound and leave it in open. The question is Performance vs Factory. Factory offers Kashima which is likely marketing bs although some say it is less likely to scratch. Factory also offers 3 further adjustments in the open mode. I am average weight and not an aggressive rider but do ride on rocky trails. Is Factory series worth 25% more cost?

in one word - no.
i have ridden both, and like you leave it in open. no need for the open mode adjust for me.
on the other hand. i think you may find the manitou mcleod a much better (and cheaper) shock than both.

Agree. Nope. I have two identical DPS shocks, one Performance and one Factory and have used them on the same bike. No perceptible diff for me.
Bling-wise, the Factory does look cooler, and matches my Factory fork.
