how much he asking....call kona about a crash replacement (they are high in the price department because wheel world has about the same price)

if you are keeping the tires on the ground alot I wouldn't worry...but if you start pushing the limits...it could fail

I'd give that a no. If the tubing is that deformed (I think I'm seeing it correctly - is the down tube supposed to taper in like that?) cracks could easily form, and if they form on the inside you won't know until its too late.

Scratches usually are not a big deal and smaller dents I wouldn't worry about. But if the dent is nearly the same size or larger than the cross section of the tubing its not good.

I don't know guys, I had that exact frame a while ago and wouldn't worry a bit about a dent even that big. The frame is very thick 7005, super burly. Would I buy it? No, but I certainly wouldn't be afraid to ride it.

If you can get it for ~500, I'd bite. Chances are you'll have upgraded before you ever get anywhere NEAR breaking it.

I put a decent small dent on my downtube on my heckler a few years back, similar location. I didn't think too much about it but thought my lbs should give their opinion. They noticed a decent crack on the pivot's weld on the front traingle. Riding the bike in this state put additional stress on the pivot. At least that was the conclusion.

Does not seem like kona has a pivot near that location only the shock mount.

I got a crash replacement triangle from santa cruz for cheap, if the bike is a steal perhaps you could get a replacement from kona?

The dude is unloading his bike for a reason! That is a pretty nasty dent. People that tend to dent stuff that bad usually ride hard (and maybe not very skilled). I wouldn't trust any interweb ridin' geek opinion on here and that includes mine!. Ask to take it to a reputable bike shop and have them do an assement of the whole thing. Things that are cheap or a good deal rarely are when you consider replacing and repairing some of the stuff that is worn out.
