Hi all I've got a Roscoe 7 (2021) and changed the front brakes from deore mt200 to deore 6120 4 pot

, The bike already had a Shimano adaptor on the forks as the rotors are 180mm but with the new caliper the rotors hit the top of it (inside) with the outside edge

is it possible I need a different Shimano adaptor ?

I've looked on the web and it's not very clear , help please

Hard to see on your last pic. When you set up the rotor/pad gap evenly on both sides is the actual caliper central over the rotor, i.e. is the rotor in the middle of the grooves inline with the seam between the two halves and not slightly off to one side?

EDIT: That adaptors is no good to you as it's an I.S. mount not a post mount adaptor.

I'm wondering if the rotor was incorrectly labelled, or packaged, and is really a 183 or 185.

Anything is possible as this isn't normal. I have the very same RT66 rotor fitted on the rear of my bike with 160 post mounts and the same adaptor. I have the same 203 rotor on the front with the 180-203 adaptor and both fit perfectly. As far as I know those Shimano rotor only come in 160,180 and 203 sizes? Maybe the top of the post mounts on the forks have had too much material removed when being faced?

Could be worth a simple test mount on the rear if possible to double check if the problem is still happening there also?

Agreed. It's a bit of a poser. I'd be much happier if I could put my hands on problems such as these.

Swapping to the back is a great idea if it's 180mm front and rear.

Yeah I wondered that , it does have an arrow saying which way is up, but have just tried it both ways and still not working , I put on old caliper and that's rubbing now also , can't swop rotor over to old one as I haven't got any of the clips that goes on the screws but it looks same size ,old rotor I'm front of new one no

I guess you could fit some shims that are roughly the thickness you need the caliper to move outwards by to stop them rubbing.

You could put the old rotor back on as you can usually reuse those clips or even fit rotor without them, not a problem if you torque up correctly (4Nm with torque wrench or the approx pressure of a stiff door handle) and add some threadlocker to the bolts.
