What would your wild guess be on weight for the following build (this actually sounds like a fun game someone could make into an app???):
Stumpy S2
RS Pike Select 140
Light bicycle xc bitex wheelset
Xt Linkglide (certainly not WW certified…)
One up 150mm
Carbon bar
Wrist support lock on grips
Around $200 crankset/ring/bb
Maxxis ardent/ardent race exo 2.4
50mm stem…

maybe 28#ish?

Sub 25 would be expensive, if even possible.

I've got an S4 S-Works frame
Grid Butcher, g control
Relatively light carbon wheelset & carbon bars
RF SL crank
X01 shft, der
XT cassette, CR, chain
Bike yoke dropper
Tubeless, XT trail pedals
Fox factory suspension (34)

28.5 pounds
Forgot to add XTR 2 piston race brakes.

To add another data point, here's the weight of my frameset when I received it back in Jan 2021:

Just got my s4 Sworks frame. Weight with shock, seatclamp, thru-axle, and swat cover/water bottle cage 2580 grams, or 5.69 pounds.
I think the actual claimed weight for a s3 is 2420 grams. I've seen some reviewers mistakenly say it's 2240.

Building now, will post complete bike weight later.

Using a feedback sports scale which has been very accurate in my experience.

It'll be close. Be sure and post what you find.

You can easily hit that weight, just depends on if you want to spend the $ to get there.

My current lightest configurations: 2022 epic evo 17.8lbs. 2019 SJ 22.4lbs , 2020 SJ evo 24.2 lbs (evo could Be in the 22s with a wheel swap).

All large/xl frames. Fairly expensive builds.

For light wheelsets BTLOS is hard to beat price wise.

With all due respect, I just don't see how these weights are possible unless you ditched droppers, ditched reasonable tires, ditched 36mm forks, etc. I guess the SJs are older frames so smaller in that regard. Also, I guess these weights are with no pedals?
Post your excel spreadsheets with your builds please.
Also have to consider that your scale could be off.
I've built several no expense spared bikes and getting real world light is quite challenging as I'm just limited by the bare necessary parts to make the bike work well.

Sub 25 is easily done on that frame with no compromises on safety or ability. I just built a 26.5# with pedals and cage 140/160 trail bike on a 3300g frame/shock. That S-works stumpjumper is 2500g.

But I don't want to hear any of this "oooh, I don't want to spend money" nonsense.

Here are some suggestions that are also cheap:

XX1 11 speed cassette, der, shifter. You can also do XTR 9000 der and shifter.
XTR 2 piston brakes.
XTR 9000 crank with aftermarket chainring with threaded bolt holes.
'24 Mattoc Pro fork.
Oneup V3 dropper.
Answer Hyperlite bar.

Pedals don't save you much. If you're using spd just get the $30 M520.

Wheels:

Careful on the tires or it will blow your whole gram budget. Conti Cross king 2.3, XR3, Barzo, etc.... You can get great tires for 750g.

Vittoria xc inserts, 50g each.

Then send Berd some Extralite/Carbon Ti/DT 240 hubs and Carbonfan/Nextie/BTLOS 300g rims.

Boom, you got it.

Can you post your 22.4 SJ build?
I haven't forgotten about this but will try to do so soon, yes, for all of them.

they were not cheap builds, and there are compromises which are ok with me. No dropper on the epic evo, for example (but droppers on the SJs). Wheels are mostly custom Berd/BTLOS/DT180 or extralite in some cases, and somewhat narrow (22mm on EE, 25mm on SJ). Yes, carbon saddles, etc. It was all basically off-the-r2-shelf, nothing really custom ala dangerholm or anything. Weights include pedals (Xpedo ti @ 218g, though one set I made single-sided @ 168g give or take). The SJs are 27.5 so that helps too.
