Good water bottle/tool combo for Medium HD3 (CC inline shock)

My back has been acting up on rides lately, and I want to try riding without my heavy camelback

Was thinking of some of the bottle/tool combos I could use on shorter rides.

As far as I know the two common options are specialized EMT

as well as the Topeak Ninja

Any feedback on how well these fit?

I use the side load specialized on my med mojo3 and fits nicely. I had to buy a wolf tooth rebound knob because the bottle kept changing my rebound. No complaints and never dropped a bottle.

I know its not what you asked about, but......

I got one of these for my regular rides (60-90min). This and a single bottle does the job. It makes my bike a grab and go thing. I highly suggest this.
Alpine Threadworks Ltd.: Performance Satchel

For longer rides, I think I'm gonna pick up this. Gets the sweatbox and weight off my back and allows me to carry what I need for longer rides and being further away from home/help: https://www.amazon.com/EVOC-Pack-Ra...k/dp/B01KTG7GJM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489409306&sr=8-1&keywords=evoc+hip+race

I really can't stand my Osprey Raptor 10. Sweaty, rolls around and up and down. Bounces all over the place, rub my pits and heavy when fully geared up...almost 10lbs.

Syncros make a great one called the Matchbox. I've got one of my 429SL and it's really good. Sideloading for easy access to bottles, and has a good set of tools. They even make one with a pump-clip to cover that base.

Bottlecages - Syncros

With that said, I haven't tried it on my HD3, as I'm running the DB-Air, which only has room for a tiny bottle as is with a Speccy Side-loader. Adding the Syncros would make a bottle a complete no go. But, with a DB-Inline you may be in luck!

And I'd throw my older Inline on there to check for you, but I'm 10 days out from a collarbone surgery, so trying to do anything heavy with my right hand is not on the cards at the moment! If you're still wondering in a couple of weeks, I'll check back in and see if you want me to tinker a bit to see what I can discover.

+1 on the alpine bag:

I toss a lot of stuff in that thing.

I've got a lezyne pump on the frame, near the bottle cage.

As much as I love my camelbak, I grabbed one of these (works well without the weird looking straps too). Hipster Hydration. Fanny Pack. Enduro Bro.

Call it by many names, but one ride on it and you'll be singing it's praises. You don't even realize it's there. ..for shorter rides (sub 2.5 hours) I put bottle in frame and on back.
