Galfer discs and pads.

I'm thinking of going to a bigger disc on my shimano saints to a 223mm on the front! Has anyone had any brake rub issues with the 2mm thickness of the rotor? Are the pads any good?

Galfer is a new name to me in the U.S. (at least I was only made aware of them recently) but apparently (from what I've read) they have a good reputation and have been making pads and rotors for the motorsports industry for a long time. I would absolutely give them a try. I don't know about clearance issues, although Shimano's rotors are 1.8mm. While that doesn't seem like a big deal, it might be just enough to make the set-up an extremely tight tolerance as far as alignment is concerned.

Galfer is a big time brake manufacturer for moto stuff as mentioned. I’d take them over random off brand stuff any day.

Also, SRAMs 220mm rotor, and trickstuffs 223mm rotors are also both 2.0mm thick vs standard 1.8mm that their 200/203mm rotors are.

It will work fine, just when the pads are fresh you might get more pad/rotor noise, or be slightly harder to center the rotor.

That's what I was thinking with regards to the clearence, like you said once the pads wear in tolerance should be fine! Thanks for your thoughts!

I've been trying some of their pads.
I have run the standard and extreme condition pads.

Both really good, if it's a bit wet out the extreme conditions pads are amazing...just don't use them in extreme conditions!

They may brake great when wet, but mud kills them just as fast as normal resin pads!

I've had years of experience with both their pads and rotors on DH bikes... work fantastic but are loud... if you can deal with the noise then go for it. I just swapped out their pro pads on my SRAM RSC G2's for Alligator finned pads and am finally happy. Not that they brake better but they are finally quiet!

Have FUN!

I ran the 203 two piece rotors and their wavy outer edge of disc was ever so slightly rubbing on my caliper. It may have been the PM’s I got from North Shore Billet that caused the alignment to be off just a tad. Overall, the rotors worked fine and looked even finer. I’m running their performance pads now but now I’m on a Magura 203 f and 180 r to see how I like the 2.0mm thick rotors. So far I’m really liking it because the lever throw is just about perfect now

I can vouch for the Galfer 223 rotor in that I installed with Zee calipers with zero rub. I have Galfer pads but haven't installed them yet. I am using standard Saint metallic pads and have really noticed an increase in ultimate stopping power over the standard 203 Shimano disc. I actually have to be careful now not to request too much stopping power as the front brake now can overwhelm the available traction. Modulation is good but I've never had too much power available before so it has taken a little getting used to!

I switched to Galfer rotors and brake pads. The brakes are still Sram Code RSC.
Now finally there is the Shimano brake feel and SRAM modulation.
Very light to use and require less braking force.

Cheap brake upgrade.

PS.
The rotors are 203 mm and the power is at least the same as the previous 220 mm rotors.
The weight saving of the rotating mass was about 100 gr

I have XT8120 brakes on the back of my ebike, and I need new rotors and pads. I like the power and feel of the XT's, but the brakes make so much noise nowadays I can't stand it. Thinking of putting on a galfer rotor and MTX gold pads. Do any of you think a 2mm thick galfer rotor will fit in the XT 4-piston caliper without rubbing the pads (I hate pad rub)?
