Thought i'd do a FTM Carbon porn thread.

Sorry for copying your idea robinfisk.

Here's mine just waiting for headset before building it up.

Thanks Madmick, this is actually my brother's FTM which we built up last year. I have a Racer X. The XX brakes offer plenty of power with good modulation. It came with the stock 140 rear rotor which had some clearance issues. It now runs on Hope 160's, no more issues. Anything bigger is overkill for the trails we ride int he Philippines. How's your build going? Post pics!

and these are the forks i'll be fitting

Rockshox Revelation XX Dual position air 150mm QR

Just waiting for a the headset so i can fit it as it's a 1 1/8 steerer tube and not a tapered one
Well the headset that i ordered Direct from Cane Creek has come but sadly came too late as i've gone for the Tapered headset plus fork.

So i have the crane creek 1 1/8 headset and these forks sitting around so if anyone is looking for a headset or fork for the FTM Carbon then i'm willing to sell these at a good price so pvt message me if your intrested

Are you still waiting on your headset to arrive? Would love to see the shock in the frame - no idea when mine will come.

Did you return the other shock? I think it's the right decision to get the tapered if you got the cheap deal from On-One

hey Madmick, I'm interested in knowing which XX crank would fit around those chainstays - I think they are the same as the chainstays on the Carbon X. Is that a 156 or 166 q-factor XX crank? How much clearance between the crank arms and stays is there? 5mm? Can you fit, say , a pencil between them? It'd be appreciated if you could take a photo looking directly down on the drive side crank arm (and chain stay) when in the 9 o'clock position, and another one of the non-drive side crank in the 3 o'clock position.

thanks
sc

hi sc

The cranks i've used are the 166 q factor, There's about 7mm clearance between the cranks and stays.

hope the photo's are what you need to see
thanks Madmick, that's exactly what I was after. Theoretically, a 156q crank could fit, but there'd be no frame flex room, and the drive side would probably be a bit tight with the chainstay protector.

I took a similar photo of my old ISIS Race face cranks on my carbon X and got similar clearance (could squeeze a 7mm thick pencil through on the non-drive side). This was surprising, given that my cranks are 161mm Q. Either I measured the Q-factor wrong or my cranks are thinner at the ends than those XX cranks (doesn't look it though). If you are interested, I'll be posting the photo on the "2010 Titus X Carbon - Would XT/XTR 2x10 work?" thread (I didn't want to clutter up your thread).

EDIT: comparing your photos with mine, maybe your cranks are a little further out - especially on the drive side. Either my cranks are offset slightly to the left, or my chainstay wrap is thicker than yours.

EDIT2: How did my post end up above your (earlier) post?

Hi Madmick, is your BB spacer at the drive or non-drive side? I couldn't tell from your pics. For some reason, the wrench from the shop put the spacer in the non-drive side. I'm thinking of trying the other side to increase the clearance.

By the way, did your frame come with torque spec info? I've searched high and low to no avail :madman:

Hi Madmick

How did you run the cable for your Reverb? Did you manage to get it to run through the cable holes in the frame? I am still waiting for mine and am considering getting a Reverb, it would be cool if there is enough space to run the cable internally.

Did you go for the 380mm or 420mm length?

Thanks

Hi sadly i did'nt have enough room in either of the two internal routes.
So i ended up running it through the shock mount then out on the left side of the headset best bit it looks ok dont notice it really

See photo's

Another option for a straight fork that I hope will..

Another option for a straight fork that I hope will work is a crown reducer that allows a straight for to fit in a taper headset.

I ordered one just in case my cane creek does not arrive from the states in time

Its made by Hope, part number HOPHS136 it basicaly increases the diameter of the bottom of your fork steerer to 39.8mm (the same as a taper fork)

Do a google search for 'Hope Technology Crown Race Reducer For 1.5 Inch Zero Stack Cup ZS56/30
HOPHS136'

Will post more info when my frame arrives and I can try it out.
