what about the cheaper carbon, all sizes available
[Oh I see the cheaper one won't allow any promo codes]
still only $999 with slightly lower component specs, but mostly the same

What specs are lower? I don't see anything different other than the color, at least in the "Features" list.

I've been watching this for a while now for my wife and I to try fat biking, getting itchy to order... If the discount applied to the black one, I'm sure it'd already be on the way. I can't find any sizing info for the frame, though, so that's one thing keeping me away (only thing I know is that we'd be between the smaller two sizes, so the green frame isn't an option). The other thing keeping me away is my wife saying "We haven't had enough snow for good fat biking for the last two years." 😒 She's not really wrong.

wow that is a good price.

I wonder how it compares overall to my farley 5. I can't find any geometry charts for it, let alone for the XL.
BikeInsights has the XL (don't know if it's accurate) - Compare: 2022 Framed Bikes Alaskan Carbon Fat Bike 26" Carbon 22" vs 2023 Trek Bikes Farley 5 XL,

I believe this is accurate. This frame was updated to the current version in 2019 and hasn't changed. The current version has a 68.5* HTA.

Great, we're getting there. 😅 Now does anyone have accurate sizing recommendations for these things? I managed to dig up this size chart:

But that recommends the 16" frame for myself and my wife (5'6" and 5'7") but the stack and reach imply it's even smaller than my hardtail that seems to feel slightly too small for me?

Bummer - does that make it kind of an "avoid" these days? Or still worth it being ~half of a bike that does have modern geo? How much of a difference is it going to make? I'm mainly looking for another way to break up Zwifting during the winter. And would probably screw around with it in warmer months a few times just for funsies and to remind myself not to take cycling too seriously...
