So finding a -4mm X-sync 32t or larger chainring ain't easy. What if I just changed the spindle spacer configuration to align the chainline? I'm really hoping for a 34t chainring.
I think I have a brand new 32t or 34t -4 kicking around because I have zero use for that big a ring on a fatbike. These are rare?

I thought my zero offset was rare, I have to run that to get the right tire-clearance and not rub the chain on my tire on my 177 FS fat bike, but there's lots of these from Chinese mfrs out there.

Late to the party as usual. I’ve got the last model Farley 5, not the newest. Assume I would need to find the -4mm chain ring for this crank to work?

Edit- Well decided to just buy it. Free shipping even.

I bought these cranks for a 2022 Beargrease and swapped the include 6mm chainring for a 30T -4 offset.
It's overkill, a 0mm offset would be optimal but probably limited to 28T to clear the frame.
The -4 puts the chain inline with the high gear and makes for a nasty cross to low gear.

on my Salsa Beargrease , i mount a XX1 cranks fat 5 ( as indicated in the technical specifications of the Salsa site ) , it comes with -4mm offset , so i change the ring for an zero offset ring and i have perfect chain line .
but the cranks a this price it's really a good deal , unfortunately i'm not located in USA...
The cranks on clearance from Planet came with 6mm offset. I wish I would have read this before buying the -4... 0 offset looks optimal.

I maybe have all this confused, since I've never before in my life had to mess with offsets, but I just put the -4 offset that came on my 2020 BG NX onto this new, fancy crank, and everything seems to line up just like before?

I though "minus" meant further inboard, so as to give better chainline in the low (50t) gear? I'll have to take a closer look at it later today, running off to help with a kiddie's mtb clinic first!

Because SRAM folks aren't logical, minus means outboard, plus means inboard.

Fun stuff, I ordered their last GX Fat5 crankset two weeks ago...they sent me a crankset with a dirt covered and worn +6mm gear instead of the -4mm! 🙈🙈🙈 I only ordered the crankset because it was cheaper as a set than just the -4mm X Sync gear that I ordered two years ago.

Or find cheap ones on ebay searching for x-sync -4 and your tooth count. Like 10-30 bucks.

Am I mistaken or is this down to $60 now? I'm tempted to just buy one even though I know it won't fit on my 120mm BB Heller Bloodhound. Good reason to buy that Ari frame I've been looking at though...

I’ve bought them 3x at 3 different prices bringing the avg to $85, best deal ever. At $60 you could turn them into bottle openers and use the chainrings as ninja throwing stars

According to Sram parts page the only -4mm chainrings they offer are 30t. Everything else in X-sync 2 is 3 or 6mm offset. I think I am going to go with a 3mm steel 34t and space it over using bb spacers.
