Just the offset ring, identical to the FAT5 except for the chainring. Luckily I have a spare FAT5 (-4mm) ring, so one of my bikes will be getting a very nice crank upgrade. Anyone need a FAT4 chainring in like new condition?

Most of the time, I've been able to find a deal like this on my XX1 cranksets. I use 30mm, non-dub, because changing bearings is far easier, but these always seemed to on a crazy sale at some point, heck, you could pick up the XC versions and swap the axles, like I did.

You should be able to just swap the chainring, as the spindle lengths are the same for the dub generation SRAM fat cranks, they just use different chainrings and spacers to fit. That being said I believe the NX cranks use a steel chainring vs the aluminum on the others so you'll have a heavy chainring on an otherwise light crank.

During the pandemic all I could find when I was building my fatbike was Fat4 cranks, so I ended up buying it and swaping in a Fat5 chainring.

Here is the spacer guide for SRAM bottom brackets: https://www.sram.com/globalassets/d...-hierarchy/compatibility-map/mtb/dub-mtb-bottom-bracket-compatibility-chart.pdf

I've always been confused about fat bike cranks and spindles and BB width. Mine has a 41mm x 121mm press fit BB currently running a GXP BB. Is this as simple as buying a PF121 dub bottom bracket and throwing this fat bike crank on there with the correct chainring and offset for my chainline? Seems like most everything is going 100mm shell nowadays and I just assumed cranks for those won't fit a 121?

A 100mm BSA shell will have 10mm of external bearing cups either side, so pretty much the same width. The chart posted above shows the spacers you'd need for PF121 DUB that would come with the BB. Looks like 2mm NDS, 6mm DS.

They are now down to $105 and they have the -4mm (Fat5) chainring on clearance for $43. For a whopping $148 you can have XX1 cranks for your 197mm fatbike! I just bought another set to put on my Blackborow- lipstick on a pig :)

There are all sorts of chinese rings available on ebay and so on. I have some special needs for a few bikes, the Foes runs zero offset to gain a little more chain clearance for the tires and my canfield also runs zero. My other two are 6mm offset. Finding the right offset with the right spline interface is challenging and often non-existent from big mfrs, they have often "moved on". The chinese rings work great.

I thought my zero offset was rare, I have to run that to get the right tire-clearance and not rub the chain on my tire on my 177 FS fat bike, but there's lots of these from Chinese mfrs out there.

I bought these cranks for a 2022 Beargrease and swapped the include 6mm chainring for a 30T -4 offset.
It's overkill, a 0mm offset would be optimal but probably limited to 28T to clear the frame.
The -4 puts the chain inline with the high gear and makes for a nasty cross to low gear.

I maybe have all this confused, since I've never before in my life had to mess with offsets, but I just put the -4 offset that came on my 2020 BG NX onto this new, fancy crank, and everything seems to line up just like before?

I though "minus" meant further inboard, so as to give better chainline in the low (50t) gear? I'll have to take a closer look at it later today, running off to help with a kiddie's mtb clinic first!

Fun stuff, I ordered their last GX Fat5 crankset two weeks ago...they sent me a crankset with a dirt covered and worn +6mm gear instead of the -4mm! 🙈🙈🙈 I only ordered the crankset because it was cheaper as a set than just the -4mm X Sync gear that I ordered two years ago.

Or find cheap ones on ebay searching for x-sync -4 and your tooth count. Like 10-30 bucks.
