hey guys, just got me a new Saint shifter with new cable/housing, will be replacing an internally routed deore on a transition scout, any tips, or video/picture tutorials that will aid in the replacement?

If the existing mf housing is continuous through the frame:

1. Remove the old cable/leave old Houston in place
2. Run new cable through old housing
3. Remove old housing pulling from the rear of the bike
4. Install new housing on cable that is in the frame

Make sure the end of the housing has a ferrule on it when you feed it onto the new cable.

Trying to do it backwards.....ie: running the new housing on the old cable sometimes make the old cable bind up and get pushed into the frame.

It is an easy process....just take the proper steps and take your time.

Good idea, but I'd be so afraid of catching the cable as I push the new housing back in, even with a new cable. Make sure the cut's clean. I'd also consider using a toothpick and electrical tape to join 2 ends of the housing together and pull the new one through. Leave the new one long, and cut it once it gets to the far end.

Of course, the easiest is use full length external routing. Not as "pretty", but you don't ride to look pretty, do you?
