This might be a silly one, but I am going to swap out the upper link on my HD3, but can't tell from the manual if I really need to disconnect the rear tri from the shock yolk.

It *looks*like I can just un-bolt the link itself and swap the new one in.

I'll take the rear wheel off etc... but do I need to do much more than that?

Not sure if it is necessary but I would just to relieve any pressure that might cause binding when trying to put it together, heck it's only one bolt.

TBF, I don't think that is a dumbass Q at all.

Makes sense to ask it as I were wondering this regarding my Mojo 3 when/if the time comes.

It might be a good time than ever to completely take apart the rear triangle to re-grease, re-torque etc as a self safety check.

I have done it several times and you really need to remove the clevis to get the upper link to come off. You need to do some wiggling and with the clevis attached its quite difficult since it stiffens everything up. In addition it allows you to move the rear triangle farther forward. But I agree, tear everything down, since it makes it a good time clean things up, check the bearings, add loctite, and torque to spec.

Is the clevis symmetrical? Meaning , is there a top and bottom orientation?
That's my dumb a$$ question.

Yeah, I'm going to in the end, but the rear triangle is a new-ish 148, so I was thinking I'd skip the lowers, but I might as well check things out. Make a party of it.

The new link was a "nice to have" purchase, not anything urgent. Rode it yesterday after a few weeks off the bike and it was too good to mess with right away. I'll probably tear it down some time next week.
