Let's see your chain guides and or bash guards on your AM rig 2x10 or 2x9. post a pic of what your running.

Im looking for a guide/guard setup for my 2x10....so far i only see the Gamut p20 and the MRP 2x.

The MRP is nice but comes with a serious price tag....$150!

any others out there worth looking at?

E- thirteen has good products  and i cam currently on a Gamut on my ride. They both work , but ill be going to a 1x10 setup soon :D

Take a look at Straightline as well , but i dont have any experience with them .

Majority of the people here run e-thirteen or MRP ..

Just mounted this bad mofo, right after some mods to the prototype:

Working on a prototype BB mount roller as we speak.

I run the Truvativ ShiftGuide chain guide, in BB mount version, paired with a FSA Alpha-Drive 170mm 22-32-acrylic transparent bash. You could call it heavy I guess (I never used any other so), but for $30 off eBay, it would have saved me a new hanger and rd a few week prior to instal.

I use it on a FR bike, keep everything very quiet, chain rolls good, only downside is the roller rotation is friction actuated by the bashguard, so you get some resistance, but when you haul 40lbs up the hill, that's no more a major concern anyways and when you bomb down, you won't notice it :D

Been running the MRP LRP, and Blackspire Stingers for years with E13 bash's. I prefer the LRP over the Stinger since it is a bit thicker, but both work well.

Ive been running the E 13 DRS dual ring guide with the ISCG 05 tabs on a 2x9 for the past few months and its worked great no complaints! Ive now switched over to 1x9 so will be saying goodbuy to the DRS and hello to LG-1:)

What kind of cranks do you have? If they're SRAM 2x10 with 120BCD then there aren't many guides on the market designed to work without a crank-mounted bash guard. Just the MRP 2x and Truvativ X-guide. If you have 104BCD cranks you have many more options....

This may a be a stupid question. Does the chain guide and/or the roller effect pedaling efficiently at all? I don’t really see how it could, but just wondering. This is going on my XC/AM rig so I do a lot of climbing…..but I rip pretty hard downhill so I def need it. I hate chain slap.

I personally haven't noticed any decrease in pedaling efficiency, and I have it on my do it all AM bike

maybe it will drag a little but it wont be noticable once you are going.

You'll notice it when pedaling backward to place back your pedals during a stop. but when you'll be riding, you won't really see it, since you won't be able to compare it to a crank without it, since you can only ride one bike at the time ;)

But going down it will be very noticeable when you won't heard your chain going nuts.

David

I have the Truvativ Shiftguide.

My only long term experience has been with a Blackspire stinger, and after 2.5 years I have no complaints. It was $30 brand new and I haven't touched it since I put it on.

Blackspire - STINGER | Blackspire

blackspire stinger. like 90g and 30bones. done.

no need to get spendy
Hi Folks,

I currently also use the Blackspire Stinger on my bike and have been very happy with it.

That said I have this on order and am excited to see how well it works. It only weighs 19 grams and costs $50:

However, I won't get it till mid January. I'll report back as to how well it works. To me it's the most elegant solution I've seen for chain retention.

Take care,

Michael:thumbsup:

That is very similiar to what the new 2012 specialized bikes have on them.

Very simple but works....
