The question is about "rigid, but with droppers" in general.

 

Rigid refers to the lack of suspension on the frame or fork, and has nothing to do with the seatpost, so I would still call it rigid.

Droppers are still rigid. Thudbusters, however, would ruin your cred.

 

The PNW Coast is sus. The wife rides one. But she also has a flaccid front end. She....had a thudbuster before that.

I reserve ridges for Ruffles, but Id rather have a dropper than a suspension fork if I had to choose just one. And I do, on my carbon fat bike.

I use a Gravity Dropper if I'm feeling sporty enough to race my rigid forked hard tail in a gravity event.

 

I like the bike, but I feel like it’s missing something.

Maybe, and I’m just spit balling here, a fork on it that goes up and down.

But, wait for it, it’s controlled by an oil filled contraption. Possibly some spinning knobs on it to regulate that oil.

To help it come back up, I guess some kind of spring?

If you’re a neanderthal I guess you could use some kind of coiled spring type thing.

If you’re some kind of a weenie you could probably achieve a similar effect by filling it up with air…

If you want to be extra about it, you could probably paint part of the new “up/down” fork in a gold color. But don’t call it gold, name it something stupid that tons of people will argue about the exact pronunciation of that color at the trail head.

I can’t wait to see the arguments this type of thing is going to create in MTBR, it’s going to be epic!

You'll need SS rigid steel mullet with dropper to beat this transplant.
I'll be swapping fork to cheap carbon one (mostly to gain clearance for better 29" tire) but this monstrosity turned out to plenty capable and fun to ride Sonoran Desert trails.

 

That looks like a good destination ride next winter. Beautiful. And I normally hate the desert. But that sandy snake above your handlebar looks like it has friends.
