I'm going back and forth between ordering an Expert or the Pro. The one difference I can't figure out are the rims. The Expert uses a "custom for Specialized" set of DT 420's, where the Pro used standard DT XR 4.2D's.

Does anyone know the difference in these rims?

The other components are small changes, so what warrants the ~$600 price increase?

T'he 4.2d rims are welded and the 420's aren't. There may be other differences in the rims, I don't know. Rims are inexpensive compared to the difference in price price between the two SJ models though. The Talas fork on the pro has a hand in the price difference.

Sorry, should have mentioned I'm looking at leftover 08's. Same frame, suspension, brakes.

How will the no welds effect the strength of the rims. Sorry for the newb ?'s, I have no knowledge on rims.
