Aye. The ProTection is nicer. Specs:

Continental Cross King ProTection:
Weight 615 g
BlackChili compound - grippy and hard wearing, Conti's top of the range rubber.
3 ply 180 tpi carcass
SKU 0101465

Continental Cross King ShieldWall System (AKA Folding):
Weight 740 g
PureGrip compound, OK grip and wear, Conti's mid-range rubber.
3 ply 180 tpi carcass
SKU 0150291

Conti catalogue here - go to page 37 for the Cross King tables. Bikeinn don't list Conti's SKU numbers and the confusion of models means it's easy for the vendor to get them mixed up (see also KMC chains), so check the SKU of what you receive against Conti's catalogue.

Both the ProTection and ShieldWall are tubeless ready, but if you've got tubes and want to save some weight (at the expense of increased risk of sidewall gashes) then go for the RaceSport, which has BlackChili rubber on a lightweight - if somewhat porous - carcass.

weight is the main difference, and I love these tires in the black chili

usually price tells you which one you want, avoid the cheaper one

im almost a 1000 miles in and my front still looks like new, rear just is slightly worn, still looks new ish

Yeah. Been a few years since I ran them, but the original RK 2.2 (SuperSonic?) was gigantic, supple and incredibly fast.

I was all aboard the Vittoria train for a while, but the new version 2.0 tires are smaller and overall not as good as the original.
