Don't you have a headtube to ream? Or a batch of cookies that need to come out of the oven?

Plus, the corncob pipe comes in quite handy when trying to fend off Mayflies. Oh yes... mayflies.

So what has been everyone's experience with the Crests? They holding up as well or better than 355s? Obviously there are a lot of factors that contribute to the durability, but just curious about anyone's experience. I am leaning towards ordering a set.

Actually, no, they haven't been holding up as well as 355's.

They've both got their place in the market, but the failures I've already seen point to the Crest being better everyday wheels for very light guys or race-day only for average size guys. It isn't in print anywhere but my internal guideline is that anyone over 180# is way, way, way better off on a 355.

Signed,

A 175# rider/builder that's been on a set of Crests for 4+ months.

P.S. There are extenuating circumstances that can change that guideline--i.e. a dishless rear (SS) wheel would be plenty durable for many/most 180# guys. But normal (dished/disc) wheels, not so much.

Thanks for the report. That is kind of what I was afraid of. I am around 175-180 lbs and want something light for everyday XC use and racing. I am generally pretty easy on wheels, but it sounds like I would be better off with 355s. If I had the money I would buy some Edge wheels, light and strong.

That's what I figured. At 190 I'm looking into a race wheelset, but crests don't appear to be the right rims. Oh the agony of waiting forever for the 355s...

So far so good on mine. I guess I'm 200lbs now. I don't feel or look 15lbs heavier. I think that scale was wrong. I ride about once a week, hopefully twice. Mine are dishless. I've smacked the rear rim a few times but I'm pretty graceful usually.
