The free hub on my Monocog 29er took a big dump the other day and I was not able to figure out how to rebuild it (if even possible and/or worth the time). Anyway, I just picked up a used Bontrager Race wheelset at a pretty good price to replace the stockers.

Problem is that I still want to run a bolt on hub on the sliders as I just don't trust the QRs on the horizontal drop outs. I did some searching but wasn't able to find any good info on converting a standard cassette style hub with QRs to a bolt on axle. I know I'll have to run spacers on the cassette body, so no worries there. Just need to get the axle figured out.

Oh, and if I wanted to spend a bunch of money, I would have just bought a nice SS hub and called it a day. :)

On Shimano cassette hubs, it's an easy switch.

On the hubs in your Bonti wheels, I don't think it's possible. I asked Bontrager about this a while back with my Rhythm Comp wheels and was told it ain't possible.
That's lame.

Anyone need a set of rims?

I just picked up some new wheels with QR to put on my Monocog.

I'm hoping that the rear QR is going to be long enough to work through at least one tug. If it does not I will be looking to replace the axle.

FTR: WTB laserdisc rims on Felt branded hubs.

Anyone know who makes the Felt hubs?

I pointed swaldrop to these in his thread in the SS forum. I use the standard length version with a drive-side Tuggnut on my Inbred. The length works but when I unscrew it enough to pop the tuggnut out the side of the dropout there isn't isn't too much room left for the nut to stay on so I usually just take it all the way off. The XL version would make that part simpler or even let you use two tugs I guess

I use a QR with one surly tug on the drive side. I have a 185 rotor on the other side. I have never had any problems with slippage on my on-one.

The standard QR skewer should work for you. I decided to go out in the garage and give it a shot and it worked great with the stock RL tugs. After taking a closer look, the width of the frame combined with the chain tug is about the exact same as a standard vertical drop out. Who knew? :)

Not as easy to get adjusted as the standard bolt on hubs, but easy enough.
