Here is my RC 2.1 Comp shim stack, I took it apart to fit an HC97 recently.
Check shim is 0.15mm thick, I can measure the others later today.
Hmm, the compression stack looks like its slightly tapered... maybe 20-18-16? I'm curious about the thickness as well, looking forward to your findings :)

really? that is one weak stack... i can imagine why people call it underdamped
Thanks for doing the legwork man!
Yeah everyone riding these hard is getting all the support from the air-spring.
I am increasing damping for pretty much everyone.

I’m a quite heavy rider 110 kg (242 lbs) RTR with a Pike Charger 2 RC.

I managed to break my LSC needle (broke in two pieces) and waiting for the HC97 to get back in stock I would like to tune my Charger damper.

I don’t ride the biggest jumps but do a few 80 - 100cm (30 - 40 inch) drops to flat. A lot of rocks and roots where I ride and I feel the Pike is way to harsh.

I would like a more plush tune, what shim stack should I try to start with, both HSC and Rebound?

Difference between Lyrik and ZEB charger2.1?

Has anyone done a comparision between the parts and construction of Lyrik and ZEB charger2 dampers?

Are the piston rod and housing (tube that the piston moves inside) longer?
Probably mounting end cap diameter (larger diameter thread on ZEB?) is different?

What about the internals? Are the "damping parts" (midvalve, basevalve, shim configuration, damper adjusters, etc.) equal?

Just wondering is all the tuning (revalving, new pistons) on Lyrik version, directly applicable to ZEB too?
Also if the bladder and damper size are equal, could a Select+ ZEB be converted to Ultimate by taking parts from RC2 Lyrik

The top cap won't.
The topcap can be swapped too if the damper units are otherwise identical.
In lyrik it seems to be the same top cap across all charger2/2.1 versions (RC/RCT3/RC2), the LsC adjuster is in damper unit, not top cap.

To clarify, the idea would be to take the damper units (from bladder upwards, the same part that HC97 replaces) out from the charger2 assemblies (already done this on Lyriks while revalving) and then switch the top caps too.

Thing is: a Select+ is RC, and lacks the same top cap as the RC2 :) So you will still get nothing in return by changing these, as the ultimate and select+ dampers as far as I know only differs in the compression. I would not consider going from a Charger 2.1 to a charger 2, due to the rebound piston differences.

The adjusters attach and are paired to the damper unit, not top cap.

Here for example Charger2 RC:
1936918

And RCT3:
1936919

In both the topcap is just with a hole for the damper unit (gold color)

Also was going to replace compression assembly, not rebound piston.

I finally had the time to replace my charger2.0 RCT3 compression assembly by a salvaged charger2.1 RC2 assembly... but i'm sad to say that there is one aspect i forgot about... the piston bolt.

When everything was put together, I noticed the compression damping felt very soft, even with LSC and HSC fully dialed in. So I have the suspicion that the bleed hole through the piston bolt is a lot narrower for the charger2.1, so the needle can close it further.

Does anyone have a c2.1 piston bolt lying around? :cautious:

Yeah the bleed hole is much smaller in 2.1 as well as a smaller needle with a different shape. so the RC2 assembly you used didn't have a piston bolt?

Since these parts aren't generally available, presumably @two-one got his RC2 assembly after he or someone else installed something like the HC97. In which case the compression bolt wax reused for the HC97.

Ok, I found a solution... I bought a used Charger 2.1 RC, and will use it as a base for a new complete RC2 cartridge 😅

I just took the RC apart, and measured some things.
The shim stack is apparently NOT preloaded on the RC, but the same as the RC2:
Nr OD Thickness
1x 18mm 0.1mm
1x 16mm 0.1mm
1x 14mm 0.1mm
1x 8mm 0.4mm

The LSC port in the piston bolt has a diameter of around 3.5mm
