On my S-Works Epic WC 2014 I always hear a clicking noise under heavy load, when applying torque (especially uphill). It comes from the drive train, but is hard to pinpoint. I suspect the SRAM X-Sync 30T chainring to be the cause. SRAM XX1 chainring, chain and cassette are brand new, the rear derailleur is a Type 2.1.

Already checked :
  • upper pulley / 42T cog distance : set to 12 - 13mm (SRAM recommends 12-16mm).
  • Epic FSR bearings have been replaced.
  • Epic Fox Brain shock has been serviced.
  • bottom bracket is brand new, installed with Loctite 9466.

Anyone else experiencing this ? Previously I was running a Race Face Next SL crank with 30T Race Face chainring, can't remember the clicking noise to be present, but had issues over time with the first version of the XX1 rear derailleur creaking.

I was thinking of mounting a new Wolf Tooth 30T chainring, as they are reported to be silent. For example, review here.
