Getting a Canfield Tilt with the Kitsuma Air. Hoping there are significantly less issues than history would suggest. The Helm, as mentioned, seems to be a pretty nice fork. Fingers crossed.

I wish there were some reviews on either the air or coil. If anyone has any thoughts I'd like to hear them as well. How do you think the air compares to the 2021 Fox X2?

I recently switched out the float X2 on my Firebird 29 for the Kitsuma Coil. Got a progressive and linear coil to try, but I've only been on the progressive so far. For me the difference was instantly noticeable and the Kitsuma is certainly an improvement. It's got the coil feel of plushness over rough terrain with good small bump compliance but still plenty of pop when I want it. Dialing in the settings was quick and easy. A couple of runs on a fast and rough trail with a couple of drops and I had it just where I wanted it. The ability to easily adjust compression is appreciated. Climb mode is a full lock out. Extremely stiff and doesn't bob at all. One of the reasons for switching was that I could barely get a Canadian summer out of the X2 before having to send it in for rebuild (3 times in two years) due to air in the damper or dust seal coming out. Hopefully this is a bit more reliable, but I'm not far from a CC warranty/service center.

Yo CEB I'm running the same setup. Although I'm running a linear coil and find it to work just fine. As far as I understand, the FB29 has enough progression built-in.
Had it on for a few months now and I'm enjoying it so far.
Do you worry about the shock shaft snapping on you at all?
So far so good over here but always packing an extra rear shock on any weekend trips.

Awesome. Good to hear your linear coil is working out well. I was also told the linear coil works well the progressive leverage ratio of the bike. I spoke with the owner of the CC warranty/service center near me about using it with the clevis design of the FB. He said the loading on the shaft isn't as great as it is on other similar clevis designs and the 9.5mm shaft on the CC would be enough. So I'm not worried about it snapping. I suspect that if anything happens, it'll just be a seal blowing out but we'll see. So far, the change to coil has been worth it.

Hell yea. Thanks for the response!

Throwing this thread back out there. Anyone on a Kitsuma Air? Can't find much out there for user experience. DirtMerchants have them so might give it a shot.

You're on an Evo right?

I'm super interested in this shock as well, it's a front runner to upgrade from the dpx2. There is a thread with a bunch of snapped shafts (some were Evo's) but believe they were all DBinline's (don't remember on that 100% though) Not sure if the Kitsuma is built differently or what. That Dirtmerchant guy is pretty active in his thoughts on gear, maybe I'll ask him when I get a sec.

Yeah, installed a cascade link and am now convinced that the tune on the DPX2 just isn’t great for heavier riders. So looking at other options. Of course, I will say as a fellow EVO rider that this is mostly in pursuit of perfection as the bike is pretty spectacular out of the box. Post if you hear something from the Dirt Merchant guy. The pink bike review was a little meh but also they didn’t like the Mezzer too much and I frickin’ love that fork so not sure that I’m too aligned with their reviewers.

The specialized dpx2 tune are typically pretty soft, and the cascade link would make it worse with the higher leverage ratio. The kitsuma should be a good choice!

Hey Johnny, while you're in here, are there any base tunes to be the Kitsuma or is it 100% external?

Anyone knows if these shocks could use tja same eylet bushing as the fox? Forgot to order a bushing for my shock, snd my lbs does not carry CC…

I've dyno'd 3 Kitsuma. 1 air and 2 coil. Tunes were identical. Internally there are ways to change the tune but I haven't asked CC if they offer any. I'd expect aftermarket to be all the same.

Same size, but different tolerance. Usually a shade tighter.
