Hi everyone!

I think I´m the first to have the official and final Banshee Rune v2. Nothing but to say that this is the really first bike I see it´s almost perfect!!! Since the geometries (absolutely awesome) until the suspension system... probably the best I´ve ever try in my life ( my last bike was a Ibis mojo hd and it was a good bike too but... this Rune is outstanding)

Well.. before the photo session it´s important to point out some data to get a better idea about this kind of bike...

Frame weight --> Size L ( 3.6 kilos With shock) ( 7.9 lbs)

The main points of this bike are

Head Angle (With lyrik 170mm rc2 dh coil) --> 65º
Seat Angle --> 73,5º
Bottom Bracket Heigh --> 345mm ( So less than the geo chart even with the lyrik)
Wheelbase --> 1185mm

Bike Check (see image)

And the images.. ENJOY THE VIEW GUYS!! :D

Hi guys. I own a 2014 banshee rune with CCDB and is time to go for the 2017 model. My dealer told me that for 2017 there is only the monarch plus option for a rear shock. Has anyone tried the rune with both monarch and ccdb shocks? Any big differences or issues with the monarch? I am thinking of keeping the CCDB and putting it in th new frame and to give away the monarch.

I'm very interested in trying to run the 26inch dropouts with 27.5 wheels. I quickly tried the combination with a 2.35 Schwalbe hans dampf and the side knobs rub on the frame, even in the slackest/longest setting so that's a no go. I'm about to switch to a maxxis aggressor 2.3 in the rear so I'm hoping it will fit since it's a narrower tire.

Has anyone else had luck running the 650b wheels in the 26 inch dropouts? Is it even worth doing so?

I was doing that for the summer season. Now that it's winter time and I'm getting muck on the tires ive switched back.

I've only got a schwalbe HD 2.25 installed and that worked really well. The short chainstay is awesome!

Direct copy/paste from dirt rider when he helped me

I just tossed my 26" drop outs on quick. Both my Aggressor DD and my 2.25 Hans dampf clear but are close there. That bracket could have been pushed away jus a bit there would be so much more clearance there. I know I remember also running a Mavic Roam in those drop outs. I got a 2 week check up on my shoulder and after that I'm heading out of town for 2 days. I have a few tires I can try if you need me to then. I have to eventually remove the Aggressor anyways cause the sidewalls trashed.

I'm in Eastern Pa, most of our riding is rocky tech, flow trails and loamy woods. A few places are muddy but typically we just got places that drain well then.

Thought I should post my current build, as I am planning some upgrades over the winter.

Frame is 2014 Banshee Rune V2 Large in Raw color. Running it at the slackest setting currently. I like the handling, but I get too much pedal strikes, so I might switch back to neutral. I am using it mainly for Enduro events, but also do some adventure rides on it, and even though its a bit heavy and with tires that are dragging it backwards, it still climbs well. I even entered a few XC events with it. I was even able to get to first place on one of them, but it had a downhill section at the beginning. Afterwards, I was quickly left behind :)

I got the 27.5 dropouts, and I am planning a conversion to 27.5 with a new fork (I'm hoping for the new Lyrik(

Anyways, the current build is:

Rear Shock: Fox Float X
Fork: Fox 34 Factory Kashima Talas CTD-Adjust
Handlebar: Spank Spike
Stem: Easton Havoc 55mm /Spank Spike 35mm
Grips: Specialized Enduro XL
Brakes: Shimano XT with SuperStar pads
Shifters: Shimano SLX
Rear Der: Shimano Zee
Chainguide MRP
Cranks Shimano XT
Chain Connex Black Edition 10sp
Cassette Shimano XT 11-36 + 40t extender
Pedals Superstar Delta Magnesium Evo
Wheels Pacenti DL31 on SuperStart Switch hubs
Front Tire: Schwalbe Magic Marry 26" 2.35
Saddle SDG Curcuit
Seatpost RockShox reverb 125mm

I am 180cm and found the 35mm Spank stem too short on the Banshee. 50mm Easton Havoc is perfect for me.

My pics really aren't the best I could do, but that's what I have available now

And one action shot:

Nice! I'm about your height. I'm at 780 mm handlebar and experimenting with a 40 mm stem. I was on a 50 which was fine as well.

Due to the x2 recall I have slapped on a DVO jade until it's resolved but I am reminded of how awesome a coil shock is so I may stick with it for a while! With a fox SLS spring I'm only .4 lbs heavier.

Im on a jade as well, I have a ccdb air cs that fits but haven't tried it. Think I should give it a whirl?

My buddy is running a db air on his rune. He loves it. Prior to the X2 being unsafe, it was my favorite shock I've ever ridden. Similar technology so I would imagine you would enjoy it too.

Nothing can beat the sensitivity of a true coil shock though ;-).

Hi fellas
I m riding a 2007 nomad at the moment, it s old but it doesn t do anything seriously wrong...
Anyway, i am considering a v2 rune with a monarch debonair and swap my current parts and wheels. The nomad would stay for my 13 years old son.
Being a modern and agressive bike i am aware that it will be great going down, my worries are the weight and climbing ability. I have to climb some very steep stuff to get to the fun part. I have read some posts here complaining about the total bike weight, and it makes me think twice before i get it. Is it really that bad? I m a poor climber, but i pedal everything on my current v1 nomad with 1x10, 32 -11x36.

I had a banshee a long time ago, want another badly!!!!

Any thoughts apreciatted.

Sorry for the english

I ride one and I have no issue with climbing. I'm pretty much the same as you, poor climber, only going up so I can come back down the fun stuff. They aren't light but neither are they really heavy and they are strong.

Maybe a Spitfire if you want slightly better climbing. They are extremely capable on the down as well for 140mm rear travel.

Thx boom
I have found a nice write up from "hell belly", and just realized that its a modern "alu nomad", the minor diferences on bb height and total weight dont matter to me, also the price is very tempting and a lot cheaper than a new nomad, so i have send to hell all these silly worries, and bought the frame. Can t wait to swap parts and ride a banshee again! I ll post a pic of it later on

Thx to hellbelly, his review really helped me to decide the purchase

I am 177 with proportional arms and I ride a large with a 40 mm stem.

I bet you would really fit well on a large with a 60 mm stem. Or you could try a xl and try to fit a 40 mm stem. I love the short stem feel though so if it were me I'd try the xl with 40mm

That's my XL rune with 222x70mm shock, rocking something like 178mm of rear travel. BB is 344mm high. It feels great. I am running the vivid with ~35% sag. The rear triangle doesn't touch the seat tube when bottomed out. it's 14,9kg with the synthace W40 26" rims(150x12 rear axle and 20mm front) and fox van 36 180mm fork. guide brakes and 1x10 shimano drivetrain.

will try fox float ctd 216 later on to see how both configurations compare...

Removed the original paint and will be anodizing it soon in black, and than spraying some details with paint. Can't wait to see it ready:)

Your shock eyelet doesn't touch the seattube either when you are fully extended?

#2,902 ·
No, it doesn't. I was sceptical too until I tried. There are at least 5mm between the seat tube and the shock eyelet. I don't know how a little bit longer shock will affect how the suspension works when it compresses the shock, but it feels alright. The frame works great with the vivid air. Better than my previous fsr/horst link type of suspension.

if all its fine in a few rides, I will try using one offset bushing to bring the bb a bit lower.

First ride today. I am happy. It climbs great, at rought stuff it s better than the nomad with no pedal feedback whatsoever. It corners on rails ( neutral settimg), to the point of puttinng a smile on your face with disbelive.
Great bike. Two things i m Not so happy: first, i should have bought this frame a lot sooner
2nd: didn t like the monarch. It was too harsh for my liking, maybe i used too much pressure, but i set it on 25%sag. It s a Mm, and while it felt ok on climbs / trails, it was too hard on dh trails. I ll reduce the psi and try again.

Anyway, i am happy to ride a banshee bike again!

You may also want to play with the compression a bit. I also prefer my Rune with a bit less sag ~24/25%. I think it climbs and descends best at this position and also rides higher in the travel. To get the right feeling with a m/m tune, try backing the compression out to a more open setting. I think this works really well for most trails. Only time I like to kick up the compression a bit, is on really fast/loose trails as I think in these scenarios it helps add a bit of traction and control. Hope this helps! Enjoy the Rune!

My awesome bike! Still going strong.

Love my Banshee Rune V2. Been riding with her for 2 years already. They ride pretty darn well and climb nice but I'm not a strong climber btw. This bike able to take from all mountain to gnarly downhill(i mean Chaing Mai downhill track and Jabeka Downhill track).

My next bike will be the Banshee Prime 2017 because it can use plus tires! ;)

Currently now riding the lowest setting.

Wheelsets: Light Bicycle rim, DT swiss double butt spokes and Hope Pro 2 (44)
Rear Shock: Vivid Air
Fork: Manitou Mattoc Pro
Pedal: Fireeye
Crank: SLX with shimano BB
Chain ring: Poiz Components

Tires: Front High roller 2 Rear and Ardent 2 (27.5 x 2.4)
Stems with handlebar: Transition(50mm) and Funn fatboy(750mm and 30mm rise)

Thx mate for your help
Well, i had four red rubber rings inside the shock, so i have removed them all and i m starting from zero, and glad i did it cause had another ride today, and it felt great, sag at 30%, and using all the stroke travel when needed, jumps and drops. The rear wheel is glued to the trail and it s hard to put in words how this bike behaves: it s plush, but poppy and fast, all at the same time!!! Never, ever rode a bike like this, and while i don t give a sh#t about strava, still today as the bike felt so good i have crushed some PRs, having a lot of fun and smiles on the process. Love this thing!!!
One regret: why did i took so long to buy a banshee? Just want to ride it more and more now!

another stealth rune:) in XL with 222mm shock length for ~175mm of rear travel. Feels and works great with 180mm fork.
It's a Vivid air with M/M tune without any rubber inside. ~30% sag and it feels soo great. I love the way the bike rides.

I am considering shortening the seat tube by 15mm, or removing a bigger piece of it together with the gusset which holds the long seat tube.

Has anyone used fox shock with corset air sleeve?

Here are some pics. enjoy .
