Im looking foward to building a 27.5+ wheelset for my new Yelli Screamy frame.

I have been eyeballing the XM551, but there are no reviews out that I can find.

Anybody have any experience/feedback?

I plan on buying these as well for my new HT build. Haven't found anyone running them as well. I know DT makes quality components ,I'm just ever so slightly concerned with them handling my 245LBS while I'm bombing through the woods.

Did you end up buying them?

I have two pairs, one that came stock on my bike, other that I have build myself.
I can recommend them, they are pretty stiff, and relatively light. They come with dedicated nipples and their diameter is the same as stated on dtswiss web. So far really no problems with them.

Mark, are you running tubes or tubeless?
Both tubeless. On the "stock" wheels I have DTSwiss original tubeless tape and Nobby Nics in tubeless version, while on the wheels that I build I have some cheap electric tape (the only one I had available when the wheels were ready) with Schwalbe G-One in liteskin, non tubeless version. On both wheels I had no problem with tubeless setup regarding the rim/tyre interface, I had only leaks in the sidewall of liteskin tire which were sealed with sealant.

I built a set of the XM551's for a buddy. He loved them but sold the bike after a couple very short rides. I just recently built a set of the XM521's on Hope Pro4 boost for my hard tail. I chose the 521's to save a couple grams of weight. Super stiff wheel set. Really durable. I weigh 235 geared and wheels stay true and round. I built these because I have a set of XM481's for my 29er that are straight pull 28 hole rims and have been super durable after being on three bikes. If you're still entertaining the thought don't be shy pull the trigger. You can't go wrong with DT Swiss IMO.

I built a wheelset with XM 551 for the Baja Divide. Excellent rims. They build up well. Seem to be very strong and durable. Perhaps my favorite "feature" is that tubeless ready tires seat onto the rims VERY easily. I was able to seat both Chronicle 27.5x3 and Ground Control Grid 27.5x3 straight out of their boxes, using only a Lezyne hand pump (not a floor pump; a hand pump). DT also makes very good quality tubeless tape in exact widths to perfectly match all their rim models.

They would be at the top of my list for go-to 40mm 27.5 rims.
