I have ridding dogonfr's Atlas

UNBIASED!!!!!

I dont own one.

Now granted when I rode it last it has super narrow bars, and the suspension wasnt set up for me. But it still felt really really good. Right from the get go its super comfy. If I were to consider buying an AM bike I'd seriously look at the Atlas.

Cons: you cant test ride it, you have to assemble it yourself ( I know what a drag...)

Pro's: Great customer service, really good quality, cheap cheap cheap!(in a good way)

:D maybe if dogonfr let me have the bike for a week. I could give an in depth UNBIASED review. :D
When would you like it?? JMP or do you need longer?? If longer Dont screw up the rear der cable like mrperc does.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

There are some folks who keep misinterpreting what I have wrote here and use it as arguments to steer the readers to one direction only or to beef up their egos (post-purchase syndrome) so I have decided to remove all what I have said here and no longer participate in any discussions where these people are likely to participate.

How did this thread manage to hit six pages??? God, you guys are so busy arguing semantics I don't even know what anybody's talking about at this point. Just buy a Reign, their cheap and climb better than a Heckler.

Start round two! Prove me wrong!

The Reign is 2.5x the price of an Atlas, but since the OP is a noob he's not going to notice the extra 10% the Reign brings to the table. The Reign comes with the same shifters and a notch better rear derailleur. It comes with better shocks, but the OP is not going to notice this. A seasoned veteran, but not the OP which is who this thread is for. The thread started as a comparison of bike for a specific person (someone new to biking), and has turned into a comparison of bikes to someone who is advanced.

The first pathetic argument against IBEX was the color choice. Posers choose snowboards based on graphics, and the same is probably true for bikers. I don't need a facy paint or sticker to ride. The next was that their website design sucked. I was on their site and never had trouble finding my way around, I could always pull up the bike I was considereing within 2 clicks from wherever I was. Their photos are a side view and a 3/4 view at different resolutions. I'm not really sure how they can photograph them differently. They put a lower resolution photo on the page for people with slower connections. If you want a closer view click a higher resolutoin. If you aren't going to purchase a bike becasue the contrast or backlight of an online photo sucks, go shoot yourself. (you may also try adjusting your monitor first) I'm on the Giant site right now and their standard photos are small and blury, this would never have an influence on me purchasing their bike. (I was looking into a Reign, but it came down to money and buying a bike that wasn't overkill)

. Now days 1280x1024 monitors are pretty much norm.

Your website looks too cheap, uninterested, unintuitive, hard to find info etc. while selling expensive products, $1000 -$2000!

You should fire your web designer. Let me know if you need a graphic artist and a web developer. No need to spend thousands of dollars to get a boutique look.
So as a web developer and graphic artist you might know that there are companies out there that track user behavior and specs of these user's computers right? if you don't then let me tell you 1280X1024 is NOT the norm  try 1024x768. So yo don't like their site cuz it's not interesting and flashy? do you use Google? talk about bland and boring, still the content they provide is second to none!

btw... i own and ride 3 Turners.

I think im free to meet you at JMP on the 14, the 15 i have a weeding to attend. Possibly meet back at Dominican Sat 21 for a ride & return. You can come over the house BBQ burgers & pick up your mini Q.

No one was saying that OP should prefer one bike to other because of color choice or web design. You have completely missed the point. How many times do I need to say this?

Aren't you glad that now you have arguments to trash everything what is or might be interpreted as a negative against IBEX? Is it just last couple of pages you have read here? It really seams like.

You are just unbelievable.

I will go back and edit and remove all what I have said here to avoid #@$#@ like you who use it the way my posts were not intended to be used. You are a threat to bike industry. If you must damage a company name then please stay with only one bike manufacturer. I can see that the dedication is there. Good job!

just an update...

Although not posting much, I have been watching this thread closely and appreciate the replies. Just to clarify, the reason I was looking at the Atlas compared to other models like the Asta was due to the fact that I weigh about 215 and I would assume another ten pounds for water, snacks, supplies and clothing. When my gf and I hike, I end up carrying most of the stuff and I suspect that will continue if we get into mountain biking. I used to ride recreationally with a rigid frame years ago (back when the Klein Mantra was a new fangled design) and actually had the fortune of trying out a Turner. Anyhow, I was going to just get another hardtail or full rigid (and the new to me 29" bikes caught my eye as well) but had found out that the Ibex could be had for not much more $$$ and so wanted to get a feel for its reputation in the marketplace. My girlfriend will probably go with a hardtail or rigid since she likes to keep things simple and I am still tempted to go in that direction since alot of the rides will be with her but I could go off on other rides in which the full suspension would be very, very nice to have. Anyhow, I was waiting to read the Dirt Rag article but apparently it is not in the latest issue on the newstand. Rambling a bit here so thanks again any other comments are much appreciated.
