I was just finishing a ride and was rather surprised to see a B-2 flying overhead! I did a double take, yeah that was definitely a B-2, pretty distinct air plane.
No, but we had an A-10 buzzing us a couple of times during the trail work yesterday. Pretty humbling when you know what kind of fire power those things pack and how low they fly.Ithnu said:I was just finishing a ride and was rather surprised to see a B-2 flying overhead! This is a common sight out here in San Diego. We see all types of military aircraft but mainly F-16s. Talk about humbling they fly way low across the freeway on a daily basis. One time I was riding dirt bikes out in the desert at Glamis sand dunes and a couple of them did a fly by. Which seemed less than 100' off the ground. I'm sure the pilots get a kick out of scaring the crap out of people. It was weird as all of a sudden I couldn't hear the motorcycle running and within milliseconds they flew right above me. Talk about having to stop and check my drawers for stains. Let me tell you it really makes you respect what they can do. I have also seen them out at the Colorado River near Yuma Arizona which is just a three hour drive from San Diego. Which is also just an hour drive from the sand dunes I described. This is where they do all of their test flying. I used to go jet skiing out at the Colorado River and every once in awhile they would fly low enough to the water you could see the water actually being sucked up in the air behind them. And after they passed the water would come down like it was raining for a few seconds, trust me It's quite an awesome sight to see.schnauzers said:No, but we had an A-10 buzzing us a couple of times during the trail work yesterday. I miss the air force vs army/navy games.moosehead said:Flew over low and slow before the Donkeys/Chargers game as Air Force choir sung the National Anthem. Incredible.

I'll say. The Broncos had better get a defense but Cutler and his receivers seem to be the real deal. Shanahan had faith they could convert for two at the end but I had my doubts. Cutler could have been sacked, he could have bobbled the snap, he could have tripped backpedaling, he could have overthrown his receiver (you know, typical Broncos "close, so close but no" stuff)...but he pulled it off. Made a believer out of me.Whirl said:Off topic comment here but... what a game !
That makes sense. I've never seen them use a B-2 for that before. Usually F-16s or F-18s.moosehead said:Flew over low and slow before the Donkeys/Chargers game as Air Force choir sung the National Anthem. Incredible.
Sorry for the thread hijack "scary avatar guy", but...xcguy said:I'll say. The Broncos had better get a defense but Cutler and his receivers seem to be the real deal. Watch Cutler's release. Short, quick, decisive and accurate, to me the mark of an excellent quarterback. Receivers will work real hard to get open for him because they know he'll make the throw. Now about that porous defense...
When the Dirt Divas + friends were up in Crested Butte a month ago, we had just gotten down the 401 and was in the parking area when a C 130 came right thru the valley flying so low that we all that it would hit the mountains on either side of the valley as it wound its way thru. It was pretty amazing (as well as loud). No one could figure out why it was there or why it was flying so low and apparently it was against regulations..... but it was totally cool!EvenFlow said:I have a friend that I padde with that flies C 130's out of Warren Air Force base in Cheyenne. We would be out paddling creeks in the Poudre drainage and hear this huge roar and look up to see him just above our heads. You cant hear them in the canyons until they're right over your head, a pretty impressive sight. He would be out doing training every morning and fly over to look for us. We would ask him to do some reconnasince(sp?) missions of some of the more remote creeks on the wyoming border to see if they were still snowed in. He'd come back with a full report...pretty cool. He's flying in Iraq right now.
