I've been eyeing a DT Swiss XM1700 wheelset for a while now. However, I can't find them in 6 bolt configs, it's always centerlock hubs. This version actually seems more flexible in that I could use either type of disc.

I do wonder if these 6 bolt adapters are prone to loosening over time?
DT Swiss one is ok if it comes with wheelset included, 3rd party can be hit or miss, especially with bigger rotors and harder riding. If you have to buy extra its not worth it, you can just buy new centerlock rotors instead, they are not expensive :)

I use DT swiss adapters w/ Magura Storm SL.2s because the Magura CLs are heavy as s#!t. No problems. On other bikes w/ Shimano brakes I just go right to the CL rotor.

It actually turns out that I'll be using Sram HS2 6 bolt rotors. The Shimano rotors are on my other bike, I got mixed up. So hopefully, 180mm HS2 rotors should work with the adapter. If not, purchasing some CL rotors wouldn't be the end of the world.

Honestly I think the dt swiss adapters are how the disc brake standard should have been done in the first place.

6 bolt is ok but fiddly. Centerlock seems nicer, but the rotors are more expensive with the spline requirement; you can't get cheap rotors. The DT adapter is better than both. You can have your cheap rotors made from plate steel, but you still just stick them on and tighten the nut like a centerlock. If I were redesigning the disc brake standard interface I think I would do exactly like the DT adapter. Use cheap plate rotors like 6 bolt, but have them lock on with a single locknut like centerlock. The whole spline thing should have been skipped.
