It's literally two minutes from the Ranger Station to Avery Creek Rd. It may take longer than that to cross the road twice.
Two minutes of my life that I value...

Some of y'all aint been hit by a car while riding your bike. I'd rather be scared hitting the Avery Gap or Bennet drop and not by Floridians in F350s not paying attention. I'll cruise the campground and be safe, and see what folks are having for lunch haha.

Thanks for all the info guys! One quick question, are there ticks down there? Up here in Northern NY we have ticks that carry Lyme disease, so using tick spray is part of mountain biking. Just curious if I should pack some spray or not, thanks!

Yes we do but they aren’t as prevalent as they are in VA and northwards. I’ve ridden multiple seasons in a row without picking up any.

You might get some but unlike some areas it’s not as common

Thanks. Any black flies, mosquitoes, etc that would warrant bug spray? Usually that’s just a spring & summer time thing, and this is perfect riding conditions in the fall.

I have more tick trouble in my yard than I do on the trails.

I usually don't need insect repellent unless I'm visiting really wet places when it's warm. The flying bugs are still around, but they're not the most active right now. We technically get them year-round when it's warm enough (even all winter), but again, lower prevalence and all that.

A bit cool currently, so not likely going to pick up any. Usually, June and July they're most prevalent, and I rarely get any on me.
