I thought we should have a thread that concentrates on the 5010 V3. Would love to have anyone that has done a demo, or early purchase give your thoughts on the bike.

I owned a 5010 V2 and thought the bike was pretty damn good! The one thing that the 5010 V2 was for me was a bike that was all about business. It went to work every time I rode it and handled it’s business like a pro!

While the 5010 V2 was all about laser sharp handling, effecient pedaling, and great climbing, sometimes I wanted a bike that had a little more playful, forgiving attitude. The 5010 V3 with it’s redesigned geo, and ability to take up to 150mm fork has me thinking these changes are going to give it that more forgiving, less business like ride.

Please share your builds, reviews, thoughts, pics or anything else about the bike.

I currently have the V2

I switched to a DVO topaz piggyback shock and a fox 36 fit4 140mm travel on mine

It completely changed how the bike rode and responded...it’s way more capable in the rough chunk...not like a big travel bike, you still have to choose your lines, but it can definitely hold its own

I’d imagine the v3 with the piggyback is pretty similar, especially if you make the fork 140mm

I had mine with 140mm fork but stock rear Fox shock. I agree that the piggy back DPX2 should really help out the rear.

I wish we could find out what AtC measurement the new geo is based off of, but I've not been able to find anything on this or the new Bronson either. You can estimate by assuming .5 degree change for every extra 10mm of AtC.

But there is a website out there that will calculate all the measurements for you based off whatever new variable AtC you plug in.

I've got a Nomad v4 as well, so I think a Bronson is too much overlap and this new 5010 would probably be the way for me to go...I think.

sadly the seattube is so short on the xl.
Haha I'm stoked the seat tube is so short, I guess it all comes down to personal preference though. How tall are you (or how long are your legs) to not be able to fit that seat tube with say a 200m dropper? I guess SC would probably suggest you try one of the XXL 29ers if you're too tall for the XL 5010?

currently on a v2 xl bronson with 49,5cm seattube and a 160mm revive dropper. 6´1" height with 89cm inside leg. could also use the 185mm version of the revive. was also on a large v2 bronson and 5010 but it looked really strange with so much seatpost showing. i love to ride steep stuff and i am really fine with the xl bronson seattube length, dont need to drop it more.
v3 5010 is really nice. looks like "blue thunder" the helicopter from the movie. badass.

I'm kind of undecided on which size to order. I'm 6'1" with a 30" inseam. I've ridden a large in the past but was leaning towards an XL in the 5010. The fact it has such a short seat tube makes me think I can get away with an XL but I wonder if I'll be giving up too much nimbleness. I'm in the midwest so I mostly dodge trees than roll down techy stuff.

Just finished this build today, Medium with Fox 36 at 140mm. I have been on the V2 and N4 so it should be interesting to get on this thing and see how it does. I ended up going with 170mm cranks as that is what I'm running on my medium Nomad. View attachment 1209419
How tall are you? I'm 5'10" and am happy with my medium N4. Thinking I'd get a medium 5010, too.

My 5010 v3

Picked up my 2019 5010 v3 (large) last week en route to Mt Bike Oregon.

Swapped out the guide brakes for the new XT 4piston's (m8020's)
and
tossed on my IBIS 735/King wheel set.

Other than that its your typical S-build.
(but came w/ a 170mm dropper on a large...:D)

Spent 3 days riding around Oakridge on that little beast.
What a blast.
Id have to say SC may have hit the nail on the head w/ this one.

Just an all around trail smasher.

I'll try and get some more pix up soon.
sorry this was all I had.

Took her our for her first ride today. This is the a large carbon S+ build. The pedals really well and handles great. Only went for a quick 8 mile ride this morning on a XC trail close to work. I need to tweak the suspension a little more but overall I was happy with the ride. My plan is to swap out the plus rims with some carbon rims after a couple more rides. I'm not a fan of the 370 hubs. Coming from the 350s on my previous bike, these were a bit disappointing.
