So... I'm taking one for a ride this week, but I'd like to know if upping the travel on the front to 160 would void the warranty.

I picked up my new 9.8 XT. I think this is the first one in the mid-Atlantic area.
Unfortunately, I have a broken fibula that's still healing, so I won't be able to take it on the trails for awhile.
In the meantime, I am going to put a RideWrap frame protection kit on it, adjust everything to fit, do initial suspension adjustment, and learn how to use the app

It came with the alloy e-thirteen cranks instead of the spec'd carbon ones. The shop is going to get me the correct carbon ones.

I weighed it at 41.2 lbs with the alloy cranks, no pedals, and sealant in the tires. The alloy
cranks are about .3 lbs heavier than the carbon. Some youtube videos show the 9.8XT build right at 40 lbs.

I know this question might be tough to answer, but I wonder why Trek didn't include an M/L size. I'm right in between the large and medium... I'm pretty sure that large is too large, but it would be nice to have the in-between size as an option.

I agree, I wish they had a M/L. I am 5’9” and a M/L would be perfect for me. I went with the large and don’t regret it. I run a 10 mm shorter stem than stock. I have the seat slid forward a bit. It feels good. A little more getting used to.

I looked at the geo figures for both bikes. Interesting that the wheelbase of my 2022 Enduro is only 1 cm longer than the wheelbase of the large EXe. Need to do more thinking about this!

@jabrabu That RideWrap kit takes some fitting but it's millimetre precise.

Enjoy the new rig!
Wow, you got that right on the RideWrap kit. For my last full suspension bike the kit had 17 pieces. This one for the EXe has 31 pieces, and it was a jigsaw puzzle figuring out exactly how they all fit together. And on a shiny black bike you can't see where the edges are, which made it even harder. It took me most of my day to install it.

Looks great. Can’t tell it is there.

Thanks. It's hard to tell from a photo. If you look really closely you might find a few tiny bubbles in the wrap, but overall it came out really good. I have installed a couple of Invisiframe kits and 3 RideWrap kits, so I've gotten pretty good at it, but it is still a very tedious process.

I had an Invisiframe kit on my last bike, which I had for 6 years. Some dirt was starting to show around the edges of the wrap, but it still looked pretty good and did its job of protecting the bike.

Another ride on the EXe. About 20 miles and 2,700’. The battery had 9% remaining. I hoped for a little more range, but that said, over 20 miles is plenty for 95% of my rides. I do have the range extender on order, should be here in November. Here are some pics of the ride, along with my range photos:

Trek/TQ need to get those range extenders to us ASAP. I love riding my EXe but most of my rides end with the bike almost dead but me wanting more. I’m seriously thinking I may need two range extenders for all day adventures.

Good info, thanks!

What level of assist were you using most of the time.

Also, your ride stats seem to indicate nearly 2,700' of climbing, not 1,700?

Looks sweet! I see yours came with a charger 3 damper. Trek's page for the 9.8 shows the charger 3 damper in the pics, but lists the charger 2.1 in the specs.

I'm assuming 2,700', seems more consistent with your screengrabs and reported range. Some have reported getting nearly 4k'. I know from my current eBike, and my girlfriends, rider weight is a HUGE variable. At 140lbs range never seems to be an issue for her.

100% agree. I would seriously contemplate buying this bike in the 9.7 model if Trek had a ML. I also have Trek Slash in a ML and it fits like glove. Perfect for a person who is 5’10”. Really hope they release a a ML in the future or Slash E model in a ML in the next couple of years.
I am curious. Would anyone know why Trek didn't do a medium/large? My 2021 Slash in m/l works really well for me!

I dunno but they really have to call it the Slash-E if they do.

Mostly Eco and Mid, but used High on punchy or steeper climbs. I work harder on this than I did on my Rise M10. For reference, I am 170 lbs dressed and ready to ride.

I did some updates to personalize things to my preferences.

Cut the 820mm wide bars down to 760mm.

Cut the steerer down to get the bars down close to saddle height.

Installed Deity Lockjaw grips, my current favorite.

Swapped the Bontrager saddle for a WTB Volt, which I have on all my other bikes. The Bontrager saddle actually looks pretty similar to the Volt, but for some reason wasn't as comfortable for me.

Pedals are Race Face Atlas.

I replaced the Bontrager dropper lever with a Shimano lever. The Bontrager lever had 2 adapters and was in a strange location, and didn't feel great. I originally got a WolfTooth lever, which I have on my other bikes and like a lot, but the i-Spec EV hardware it came with didn't work. So I decided to try the Shimano lever. I like it a lot. It has the looks and ergonomics of a Shimano shift lever, and it is very smooth. It has a return spring, which also helps its precise feel, and somehow manages to have both a short throw and fairly low effort.
