From what little information I received, the Element will make its debut on the internet at the end of this month. I figured the timing of this was in conjunction with the BCBR starting right after the debut. Not sure if the newer information of the carbon frame factory delays will effect this or not. I'm guessing Rocky will still do some kind of introduction in this time frame, after all the Element is pretty much designed for this type of race and riding, as well as Rocky being a huge supporter of this race.

so just to follow up

The bike i saw was in fact the new element

you can see a post of the the head tube on Instagram…look up 'rmandfriends'[emoji6]

I've seen the whole bike, doesn't look like it will hold 2 water bottles the way the current version does…I don't know any of the suspension or geo numbers…but for the bike itself…looks like a good looking bike

Is the suspension still the same as the Instinct. Four bar setup?

Thanks for the info...though that pic really doesn't give us much does it? :) I guess we know one thing, the BK in the CB/BK is black for sure. I also would guess if these guys have one and the post is from almost a week ago, we should be getting some kind of intro on the internet soon. Not having room for 2 water bottles would be a bit disappointing, but not a deal breaker. Do you know what size you saw? Could it have been a smaller frame with room for only 1 bottle, and maybe the medium-xl frames will have room for 2 bottles?

the black frame posted has that black/lighter black pattern on the head tube and first part of the top tube

Overall it’s the light black color with ‘rocky mountain’ in the dark black color like the mint/black instinct

The frame I saw was a large

Aw, I just thought that was the lighting of the pic, but now I see it is a two tone black, that will be really cool!

So, as you know, the new Rocky Element was released today to the public. I have one reserved if I want it for next summer, but I just don't know if I would be happy with just 120mm of travel for my daily driver. (I currently have an Instinct and Altitude, this would replace the Instinct) It would also need a piggyback shock and a 140mm fork, which I have. Decisions. I am assuming there will be no chance in hell of taking a demo out for a proper rip before committing in this environment. I know these short travel bikes have gotten way better, but that much better?

Every other detail/geo is just about perfect.

What do you mean about short travel bikes not "being much better"? From the looks of it, the new Element will be as aggressive as it gets for an XC-style bike, and that seems like a really positive thing.
I guess if you're riding a lot of rocky, technical trail, the Instinct will perform better. I already sold my Instinct to make room for this bike, and I think it will fit in my quiver nicely; a fun XC bike, I'm sold. I also have an Altitude so they should balance each other out nicely.

I have a ‘21 Altitude and a ‘20 instinct, so I am used to smashy-smashy. I tend to seek out every rock to go over, and not around. My SB100 was clearly not smashy enough (I constantly bottomed the travel). So maybe my needs/desires exceed this amount of travel?
