Did a 30 mile XC day followed by a day of riding rough chunky canyons. Love how versitile this bike is. I found if your a bit rougher with the Element, IE drops/bigger jumps... That going to the .95 fox spacer (biggest one) and 25% sag is the sweet spot for the shock.

What are people running for sag numbers for the element? I did not see anything in the manual or on line. I have it set now at 12mm, which I'm assuming is 25-28%.

Thanks.

RM says 12-14mm sag. 11.25mm is 25% of the 45mm stroke shock. I am at 11.25mm sag with a .95 fox volume spacer (stock spacer is .4 on size large) and is stiff, but complient, and resists bottom out. Alot of my riding currently is ledges, drops, and alot of compression events. I imagine you could run more sag if you are in a mellower area.

Excellent, thanks.

11.25mm hey..... don't know how you can gauge decimal mm on sag.

NICE - Pueblo Res area? I haven't ridden in a while but looks familiar!

How do you find the element on that chunkier stuff? THANKS[

Medium measured RAD at 81.5 cm. Measured 1cm below string attached between grips. Not sure I did it right but there you go. That is with only 1 spacer under the stem (2 above it).

FWIWi think RAD is BS. I went from a small frame to a medium and every aspect of the riding improved. But I have an unusually long “ape factor” so maybe I’m the exception to the rule.

Update on my C50 while I’m here. I swapped just the front caliper to a 4 piston SLX. it feels much better and the lever pressure is now more even for front and rear. Coming from 4 piston brakes, it’s hard to go back to 2.

I also found I needed to experiment with air pressure a lot on both fork and shock. Initial sag values were way off for me. I ended up with 15psi less in my fork (than Fox recommends for my weight) and 15psi more in the shock. Now suspension is dialed, bike feels amazing and my confidence is back. I also think it might’ve taken ~100km to settle the bushings in.

EXACTLY!

I just rode a bunch of Uber-gnar on it in St. George/Grafton Mesa, and I had the same observation. Ended up pumped up to 290 on the rear (so realistically 285 or so), with about 60-65 on my pike (one token). I will be adding another and lowering a few more psi.
Float X should help on the rear when I can finally get one.
173 pound (nekkid), aggressive rider.
Pretty damn impressed on what this could do on the double-blacks, at least at slower speeds/smaller drops. Still doesn’t replace the Altitude, but you can get away with so, so much. But yeah, 120/140 ain’t no 165/170 when it comes to front end geometry/etc.

You sir, are a gentleman. Thank you!

Just for people with Aluminum model... I dont think you will be able to run a Float X (or any piggyback shock) and a water bottle. Due to where Rocky has changed the bottle cage drilling I already have a tight squeeze between my bottle on and shock on my A50 Medium. About 1 cm between lock out switch and bottle.
I can't even get a Fidlock or tiny YT cage/bottle in the top section of my frame because the drilling is too far up. Aluminum Larges may be ok, but medium and smaller is impossible.

There are a few things to try, though.
i redrilled my Cannibal elite cages, and Wolftooth and Problem Solvers make…well, some problem solvers.

Is anyone else finding this bike quite large? I've got an L c50 and am 5'10ish 5'11ish and it feels enormous. Perhaps something to get used to?

Slackest position, 140 mm fork, 50mm stem. And I’m shaped like a T-Rex, all legs, short arms.
