Anyone heard anything yet? Kona has refreshed all of their mountain bike frames in the last ~3 years except for the Honzo. Is this going to be the year we finally get to see some modern geometry updates to that frame?

Honzo could benefit from a few modern changes. I'd expect a degree or two slacker HT, steeper ST because its pretty slack at 74.5, maybe a tube shape modification in the rear end to make it a little more compliant, and sliding dropouts plus larger tire capacity for the aluminum and carbon versions would be sweet!

I won't be happy until I can finally have a mullet hardtail e-bike with a 200mm double crown fork, 45 degree headtube, 90 degree seattube, 20 speed gearbox, and belt-drive!

Of course there's a limit. But making 2 degree tweaks here and there that Kona (and literally everyone else) have already implemented on their other bikes isn't outrageous.

It seemed funny to me that the only carbon Honzo for 2020 was the Big Honzo, so from that perspective, maybe an update is coming. Or maybe they just didn’t sell enough carbon 29ers to justify keeping them in the lineup. Dunno.

Anyone care to speculate on the likelihood of a carbon 134 with small wheels? I read at least one magazine review when the new 134 came out suggesting Kona didn’t see that market as big enough, but something to play in the same sandbox as the new Mojo 4 and 5010 would be sweet.

I wouldn't be surprised if the carbon honzo gets dropped unfortunately. It seems like they consistently had overstock of that bike and you could get them on blowout sales every winter.

Kona has been pretty forthcoming about future model possibility. If they say they aren't working on it, they probably aren't. RIP carbon 111 dreams.

Get a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide with a super quiet muffler
Perfect! :D

It seems most things in Kona's lineup have been refreshed recently. I can't think of any other bike that really needs an update. Maybe we'll get to see a funky side project from them again? Maybe a new Humuhumu?

My Kona dealer says he already ordered a bunch of 2021 Honzo's.
They will arrive end of August.

Unfortunately he keeps saying he doesn't know anything about the changes for 2021. Not really sure if he knows or does not want to share information. Too bad!
Guess I'll hang around for a while for the 2021 version.

Does anyone think a redesign of the Process 153 is coming for 2021? It is a sick bike in it's current state but I'd like slightly more slack head angle and steeper seat tube. If they can do that while retaining the poppy and playful feel I'm sold. Also, I'd really like to see a threaded BB one of these days.

I only parted with my Process because the seat tube angle made my back hurt on long fireroad climbs. I ran mine with an angleset to slacken it, but if they brought one out with those changes you mentioned i'd pre-order one. The BB doesn't matter to me cos I always run Shimano cranks anyway.

Alright here's some info on the 2021 Honzo's.

Honzo AL: Matte green (army) frame with yellow / orange kona decal.
Very pretty colourscheme!
Available December.

Honzo AL/DL: Matte Black frame with red thin outlined kona decal.
Available end of Juli.

Honzo ST: Same colors as the 2020 Big Honzo ST. Green frame (bright) with blue kona decal.
Availability unknown

All models get equipped with an eagle drivechain.

There's no info yet if the ST frame will be sold as a frame-only option.

I don't know anything about geometry changes, as I've only seen a few drawings.

I can't believe the versatile Honzo Carbon is gonna be discontinued. Th Al verseion looks like a tractor to ride, such a heavy bike.

Hi, new here. I’ve been looking at the Konas for a couple months now waiting for bikes to start shipping again. I was interested in the Cinder Cone but it appears to be discontinued now. I don’t really want to downgrade to the Blast. The Kahuna is nice but I wasn’t planning on 29” wheels. My last bike was a 2004 Specialized Hardrock Sport which I rode until late 2009, so the bigger tire sizes will be new to me.

The Cinder Cone might still be coming. But honestly the Blast is a killer setup for the price. Especially now with Deore 11spd. Its the same frame as the Cinder Cone, just with a different name. You could take that extra $300 you were planning on spending on the Cinder Cone and put it towards a dropper post and/or upgraded fork and you'd have a really great bike!

Thanks. Yeah, maybe the Cinder Cone will show up. Though I'm loving the color of the Kahuna. I'm 5'8" so 29" wheels will probably be fine after getting used to them. The Blast has been on my list too, I just preferred the components of the Cinder Cone.
